  • About MB Sports
  • MB Sports History

The first MB Sports boat, August of 1993. Built by Mike and Irv Brendel along with a few trusted partners. This boat was nicknamed "Kermit" because the gelcoat came out such a bright green. It was built at a friend's farm near Merced and then Irv, Mike and Mike father-in-law, Delbert Briscoe towed it across the country for the WaterSki magazine test.

The Two-speed transmission sets the standard

The two-speed transmission sets MB Sports Boats in a superior class. MB Sports understands the physics of a wakeboarders' drag behind a boat. It can wear on a transmission. Our ingenuity of developing the two-speed shift, allows the boat to plane quicker and minimize fuel consumption. This minimizes wear and tear on the transmission and will allow lower fuel consumption. It's also just plain fun. This patented technology is fully tested and reliable.

    Engines

All MB Sports PCM inboards are based on GM's famous Vortec engine blocks and feature the latest in multi-port fuel injection technology. Electronic fuel injection, combined with microprocessor-based engine management, provides significant performance benefits. The EFI engine is more responsive, with smoother acceleration and excellent turnkey starts. Reduced fuel consumption and improved emission control is due to the precision of the engine control management system (ECM).

But the benefits of EFI don't end with performance: Multi-port engines are more durable and reliable. The Engine Knock Control Sensor detects engine knock and virtually eliminates it by automatically changing the spark timing and fuel delivery. Over-speed protection automatically limits engine RPM if there is a danger of over-revving due to prop failure or cavitation. The Speed Reduction Control reduces engine speed, and beeps a warning if the engine overheats, has a low oil level or low oil pressure. For altitude compensation, the ECM system senses air density and modifies fuel and spark accordingly. And, the self-diagnostic capabilities allow faster, more accurate maintenance on those rare occasions when the EFI system needs servicing. PCM chooses multi-port injection because, like all of the components we use, it's state-of-the-art.
MB Sports Boats now offers PCM's exclusive CATANIUM™ Clean Emission System, which utilizes a catalyst to reduce emissions as required by California law. PCM's CATANIUM™ CES is a patent-pending technology that uses precious metals to greatly reduce emissions and dangerous carbon monoxide. CATANIUM™ CES meets and exceeds emissions standards without impeding performance at all. MB Sports and PCM lead the way with this new technology.

    Ballast Really Matters

Only MB Sports can boast up to 2,400 beefy pounds of ballast, quickly and easily customizable right from the cockpit. No fatsacks or added weight needed. MB Sports Boats has a STANDARD, dual-tank 1,800 pound system in the 220V and B52V, and it only goes up from there. Way up.

The MB Sports ballast system has been praised for its simplicity and effectiveness. Rocker switches are located in an easy to reach, billet aluminum control center next to the driver to activate the twin, reversible pumps. Customizable ballast on the fly means you can custom-tune your wake building water-weight, stabilized by the internal baffles, for any style and level of rider. Best of all, the MB Sports Boats tanks run the length of the boat, balancing distribution from 1,800 to 2,500 pounds of ballast and leaving the deck and storage space free for passengers and gear.

    Skylon Towers

For 2009, MB Sports has worked very closely with their tower partner, Skylon, to produce an all new Pro Series. These new towers are not only the most rigid towers made, they also are the first towers that fold down far enough to actually fit into a standard 7' garage door opening. Constructed of premium 6061 T-6 aircraft aluminum tubing, they come equipped with billet aluminum board racks for storage of 4 wakeboards, Skylon wakeboard towers are available on all of our boat models, and come standard on the B52 and Tomcat models. All tower designs feature unique flush fitting deck mounts, windshield profile brackets and an oversized rear view mirror with a billet aluminum bracket to ensure an obstruction-free view 360 degrees around.

    All new telescoping board racks

MB Sports has always been the innovative leader in wakeboard boats, and this year is no exception. In fact, the innovations for 2009 surpass any model year that MB Sports has produced to date. Case in point, the all new Telescoping Board Racks. Not only do they swing around for easy access from inside the boat, but they also have a totally unique system for securing the boards. No more bungies! The telescoping brackets work on a durable ratchet system that is amazingly easy to use. Just pull out the bracket extensions, drop the board in place and push them back in. Your boards are locked securely with rubberized grips that protect the board's surface and hold them tightly in all conditions.
