by Michael from Heber Springs, Arkansas on April 08, 2013
I received the two gas springs in good order. However, also included was a small plastic sealed bag with 2 small springs inside it. No information provided regarding their use. Later when I was getting ready to discard the outer packaging I found two more loose small springs which had gotten out of the plastic bag during shipping. I have no idea what they are or what to do with them. They don't appear to fit the gas springs. I hate mysteries!

I would like to order SL29-40-1 but what is the correct mounting bracket..Same as the 30-1?
Everything is the same for the 30-1. The SL29 is the model, the rest of the numbers just indicate PSI and packaging. There is no part number for a mounting bracket in Attwood's catalog on these springs.
I intend to replace a SL 29-30 model with a SL29-40 model spring. The 30 model has a 13mm ball and the 40 model has a 10mm ball. Can I assume that I will have to replace the mounting brackets because of the different ball sizes?
SL29 refers to the size of 36" extended, 21" compressed, all SL29's use a 13mm socket. ST29 which is the stainless steel version uses a 10mm socket. As long as you stay with the SL29 series you won't have to change the ball mount you've been using.
I need a gas spring in these dimensions at 20PSI? help?
Unfortunately, we only have this available in 30 PSI and 40 PSI. If you need further assistance, we suggest posting a question on our Forum page:
I have a 35lb. Trapdoor on a child's treehouse. 25inches wide by 35inches long. I need it to go from zero degrees to 105 degrees. With minimal force to open and close. What do you suggest?
Unfortunately we cannot offer advice or recommendations as we are not technicians to recommend PSI. We can only have you measure how long extended you need it and how long compressed you need it. For more assistance you can contact Attwood or go to our forums to connect with other boaters who might be able to offer some suggestions:
The piston I am replacing is 25" when the hatch is fully open, so this stroke will never be totally open. Is that a problem? The hatch weighs 25 lb and has a piston on each side?
It is recommended you get the correct extended and compressed lengths to have it function correctly. Best thing to do is call us with the part number to your current Gas Spring. They are usually on the spring itself. 1-800-914-1123.
What hardware would I need for these particular gas springs!?
Other than the ball stud brackets that would is necessary for any gas spring, there isn't much else that is required for this product.
I ordered the #SL29-30-1 from your website but I need the correct mounting bracket. Do you carry those?
going to require a 13 mm ball for mounting. We normally do not keep that size in stock but you may contact our sales regarding a special order. The part # would be Attwood #SL61SSBS-1
