2010 Beneteau First 10R Description

It was a "gauntlet"thrown down by Beneteau that Farr Yacht Design couldn't resist. "Let's design a fast, fun, facile competitor!" And racers who have competed with the First 10R believe the challenge has been met. Critics agree the sleek, open design, powerful sail plan, asymmetrical spinnaker and iron blade/lead bulb combo keel
have earned this boat a Beneteau pedigree. A unique combination of infusion and injection techniques have allowed Farr Yacht Design and Beneteau to optimize their proprietary "one shot" hull molding process for the First 10R, firmly mating hull and structural grid while giving Beneteau engineers precise control over shape and displacement.

Every aspect of this design, from the new hull form and appendageconcepts, a high aspect carbon fiber Hall Spars mast to finely engineered weight distributions, contributes to the goal of producing the finest, well-rounded boat available. None of the character of the luxurious Beneteau First Series has been sacrificed to devise this new racer.
While the perfect weight distribution around the center of gravity optimizes the performance of the First 10R, her fully functional galley, separate head and full sized navigation station round out the "creature
comfort" of her accommodations. Luxuries aside. this is a racing boat, designed by racers to win.

2010 Beneteau First 10R Standard Features

Hull and its structural grid are infused in one operation for a better strength/weight ratio, overall reduction in weight, and optimal weight control
Glass fibre/balsa/synthetic resin composite
Strengthened pressure points (keel, rudder, chain plates, deck line) reinforce the structure

The hull/deck joint is secured in three ways: mechanically attached to the hull by screws fixing the teak toe rail; bonded to the hull (polyurethane adhesive) to guarantee better quality; and finishing joint guarantees watertightness of bonding

Cast iron fin w/torpedo shaped lead bulb on bottom hardened w/antimony to lower the center of gravity.
To increase life, keels are given an anti-corrosion treatment & improved finish before assembly, using epoxy based coatings and paint. The keel is fitted to the hull with high-resistance bonding as well as a system of bolts and stainless steel backing plates
