Hi, I’m Mike Iaconelli, bass master turned pro. I’m here to talk about Smallmouth fishing. Everybody knows that I’d love to fish for Smallmouth. I grew up in the Northeast, fished Smallmouth my whole life, and there’s nothing like the fight of a Smallmouth Bass.
But Smallmouth fishing can be tough. Growing up, the cure was little baits and light line, and that’s still good. But you know what? There’s a product that revolutionized Smallmouth fishing and it’s one simple word; it’s Gulp! And Gulp! Is like magic for Smallmouth. And over the years I’ve learned when nothing else is working, when you want to catch more and bigger Smallmouth, this is the stuff to go to.
And there’s really two reasons that Gulp! is so good; one is obviously the scent and smell. The one thing I know about Smallmouth by wishing them over the years is Smallmouth feed on scent more than large mouth, more than spots Smallmouth really rely on smell. And you know, Gulp! has 400 times the scent dispersion than normal plastics. So those Smallmouths seek out and find the stuff like candy.
The other thing about Gulp! that’s great for Smallmouth? Gulp! is no plastic. Gulp!’s not plastic and what that means is it’s got more fluid action. And that’s really what you want when you’re Smallmouth fishing. You want something that moves and shakes, and it’s almost flimsy in the water, real natural. You drop shot that thing on a shaky head, on a split-shuttle Carolina rig and the water makes that thing come alive because it’s not plastic.
I can tell you, if you want to catch more Smallmouth, if you want to catch lots of Smallmouths, try this stuff called Gulp! It’s absolutely going to change the way you Smallmouth fish.

Here we go, you know, when you fish a lot you find baits that are not produced consistently. That’s why I like to fish Gulp! and Gulp! Alive through the ice. They’re deadly on my species. They’re also convenient unlike live bait that freezes when it’s cold, Gulp! and Gulp! Alive are always ready to use.
I keep both bags and jars in my tackle bag, in my wheel house, and in my truck because you never when you could sneak out for an hour or two. Gulp! is available in many classic winter shapes including Gulp! Waxies, a Pan fish favorite that outlasts fishes’ live bait. Gulp! Maggot, with Gulp!’s extreme scent dispersion and live-like taste, a texture. Both shapes come in a durable, handy jar with a mouth big enough that even chilled fingers can access.
Got it, man. If you’re also a big fan of the fish fly, you’ve got to see this bait. The little tail - it gives it so much action. That could be a live minnow, insect larvae, or even a worm. All I can tell you, the fish love ‘em.
The Gulp! one inch minnow, well, this classic minnow shape is deadly and all types of pan fish. And it’s more durable than live bait which means you don’t need to waste time re-baiting when fishing’s hot.
And these bags, they can be resealed and small enough to carry anywhere. Gulp! Alive is giving pan fishers, anglers, and even more potent bait for chasing their favorite fish. Look at this guy!
And what’s best is these baits feel alive, they look alive, and most of all, they taste alive.
After you fish with Gulp! Alive bait for a little while just take it off the hook, throw it back in the jar to recharge. Grab a fresh one. And you’re back in business.
I use Gulp! Waxies, Maggots, Fish fry, minnow, and minnow head to keep a variety of winter baits including ice slice, and spools. Fish them like you would live bait.
Gulp! and Gulp! Alive baits are available in a variety of fish catching colors. All Gulp! and Gulp! Alive soft baits offer 400 times the scent dispersion of regular soft plastic that it increases your strike zone and help you catch more fish.
