Bertram Yachts
Bertram yachts are designed to run hard and fast when you want to and are built for people who use their boats everyday. They are tested unlike any other and are guaranteed to get you there and back. The essence of Bertram boats means having confidence in proven resale value and being supported by a company that stands behind its product. In not just one item, but in the total synthesis and execution found in the hundreds of manufacturing details that make Bertram boats Bertram boats. It’s confidence that comes standard on every Bertram yachts.
Deep-V
It all began with the deep-V design that inspired Dick Bertram nearly 50 years ago. Developed from C. Raymond Hunt’s prototypical powerboat hull — the one that caught Dick’s eye in 1957 — Bertram boats deep-V design proves time and again that the sharper the vee, the better a boat will slice through the waves at speed. It took Dick Bertram to bring this revolutionary design to the public — and it took the company he founded to perfect it, model after model, year after year.
All Bertram yachts prove the value of providing true real world performance, durable strength and the best solid deep-V ride. In fact, all Bertram boats hull design is based upon the deep-V; and while many have emulated this design over the years, no one has ever matched Bertram boats trim, balance and displacement. The ride Bertram yachts is famous for is the best big water ride, period. Today's Bertram yachts are even more hydrodynamic below and more aerodynamic above, while the rounded designs provide a dryer ride and cleaner cockpit. At Bertram yachts, the proof is in the performance of every yacht we build.
Bertram Yachts Construction
The name Bertram has always stood for a legendary ride, strong styling and rock-hard reliability. To be on the open seas on Bertram boats is to be safe and secure, regardless of the conditions. Whatever the model, every inch on all Bertram boats has been purpose-built with total integrity. From fuel tanks to fasteners, sidewalls to systems, decks to hulls, Bertram yachts demands that only the best materials be used. The designs have been produced by the marine industry’s most innovative engineers. These boats are finely crafted by experienced professionals who take pride in their legacy of excellence. The result is a level of unsurpassed quality and consistency. Simply stated, Bertram yachts are built better.
Hull
Advanced composite technologies are the foundation of all Bertram boats, which are built by using composite guidelines with an offshore menu in mind. Hand-laid strand mat, multiple knitted fabrics and multi-directional fiber orientations create a structurally superior composite. This composite not only provides the highly desired lower center of gravity, it also aids in the long-term durability of all Bertram boats hulls. In fact, all high-stress areas -- such as the chines and keel -- are overlapped and utilize several layers of unidirectional S-glass for superior stiffness and strength.
The use of Bertram boats exclusive structural closed cell foam stringers provides strong structural redundancy to every hull built in the Miami facility. The extra substantial stringer and grid system is true to the core at Bertram Yachts. Above the waterlines, the hull sides of Bertram boats are fully cored utilizing a state-of-the-art “vacuum bagging” process. The high-density core is vacuum bagged into place creating a very light, yet structurally strong composite. This same process is also used on the deck, ensuring equal distribution of pressure during the installation of the core, and creating the optimum glass-to-resin ratio. This provides higher strength-to-weight ratios and greater thermal and acoustical advantages, as well.
Bertram yachts ultra luster exterior is achieved through the use of a time-tested high performance Armorcoat gelcoat. This exterior finish has a durability that far exceeds basic gel coats. All Bertram boats also have an anti-blister protection barrier that protects the hull with advanced HYDREX vinylester resins.
Systems
Bertram yachts systems set the industry standard. All Bertram boats feature uncluttered easy-access engine rooms and has been engineered to work in real world conditions with an additional access through the cockpit sole. Key mechanical components are located aft of the engines in a dedicated machinery room with a high gloss molded machinery flat. This greatly increases the clean workspace for routine maintenance while providing an excellent acoustic separation barrier that keeps machinery noise away from the cabin areas. All mechanical components have been selected based on 45 years of boat-building experience, and both provide performance and enduring reliability.
All engine room air is routed through a two-step filtration system, combining hull side demister grills with downdraft water separating air plenum, which minimizes the effects of corrosion in all machinery spaces. Bertram yachts also uses the patented Delta-T ventilation system which keeps the engine room dry, resulting in less maintenance. The Delta-T’s innovative design also provides dramatically reduced combustion and propulsion noise levels.
Bertram boats uses plumbing joints that are securely bonded. All hoses are double clamped for added protection. Through-hulls are made of bronze and embedded into fiberglass, providing added strength and long lasting durability.
All Bertram boats fuel tanks are baffled, using only the best fittings, and are laminated with HETRON for fire resistance. The tanks are also close cell foam insulated and glassed directly to the core structure of the hull. A unique advantage is that Bertram boats tanks are strategically located. All Bertram yachts are uniquely balanced with centrally located fuel tanks that create proper running attitude regardless of your power choice and fuel load. Bertram boats tanks are placed for balance, reliability and ease of access. Additionally, all tanks, water, holding and fuel systems are constructed well beyond industry standards and then pressure tested for a full 24 hours. By using gel coated liners, Bertram yachts fresh water systems consistently provide clean tasting water. All water system control valves are color coded and have independent shut off valves, useful for tracing and maintaining specific regions of the fresh water system.
When it comes to electrical components, safety is the top priority. All wiring on Bertram boats is robust, straightforward and uncomplicated. Conductor leads are hard-wired point to point, use terminal blocks, are color-coded and installed in concealed chase ways. The planned supported runs also offer the ultimate harness protection and reduced frictions points. All distribution panels exceed marine standards and are engineered to perform above the needed voltage providing better insulated protection. All electrical components are the best available and installed to ABYC standards by certified marine electricians. It’s this ‘overbuilt’ way of doing things that Bertram yachts owners have relied on for generations.
