East to install and worth every dime for us whose legs don't bend the way they use to.

BOLTS TOO LONG
by Kenneth from Des Peres, Missouri on December 04, 2012
Happy with the product. Very heavy duty parts. Mounting bolts were way too long for my trailer. I had to purchase 3" long bolts to replace the ones provided.

Problems with little things
by James from Richmond, Texas on May 16, 2014
I like the concept and installation was fairly easy. However they need to fix some problems. 1. As someone else mentioned 18 MONTHS AGO - the bolts are way too long. To replace these grade 8 bolts cost $9.00 plus a trip to hardware store. They should have figured this out by now. Even longer threads on the bolts would alleviate the problem. 2. The brackets are not drilled properly. I have a standard 4" frame on my bass boat and I am going to have to shim the mounting or elongate the holes to keep it from leaning (wish I could show a picture). I know it is not right because I have a similar set of bracket for my fold-up trailer wheel from Bass Pro that fit perfectly. Some engineer probably specified them so tightly that even painting the steel added too much width to the steel frame. No good for the real world. 3. Another irritant - this product is obviously not aimed at the younger crowd so why the one third page instructions with tiny print and pictures. Trying to save 1/4 of a cent. Dumb. 4. I am not huge but I am not little, 216 lbs. The steps feel wobbly. Just too much slack. I do not know if this can be fixed but it is a little unnerving when climbing onto the boat. All that said I am keeping the steps as they seem to be the best alternative. However, if they ever got these into Bass Pro or Cabela's, they would go broke handling all the complaints and returns.

Great Product Although More Engineering Needed
by Robert from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin on May 04, 2012
1. item was delivered in two days, awesome. 2. Package was pretty beat up, looked like someone had retaped the box. 3. Two of three pipe cap ends were cracked and broken. 4. Install went fairly quick. Located and mounted on the tongue next to where the winch frame is mounted. 4. Here is where a little more engineering would make a great product even better. The small handle that is used to keep the ladder from swiveling and swinging into the boat hull is impossible to tighten with just your hand. The first time I tightened the nut by hand, the ladder swiveled and crashed against the boat hull, making a nice gash. In order to really tighten the nut, I took a rubber mallet and smacked the handle until it was tight. Now the ladder will not move. Next, when you insert the handle bar into the ladder assembly the ladder wobbles because the receiving end of the pipe is considerably larger than the handle bar. I probably will try to find a bushing that I can insert to tighten things up. And I will purchase 2" vinyl pipe caps to replace the broken caps that came with the unit. All in all, even with the couple of needed tweaks, it is a great addition to the trailer. And iBoats order to ship time was great. Would recommend purchasing this item from iBoat.com.

Tough fit
by Billy from Durango, Colorado on August 24, 2013
Haven't tried the steps yet. From the photos it looks like it needs to be mounted on the tongue of the trailer. My trailer has a 2 foot section that is removable. I need to remove it to fit it in my garage so can't mount it on the tongue. I payed around a bit with different placements and decided to mount it a bit further back on the trailer frame. I'll be in a little deeper water when I get in the boat but that also let's me avoid having to step over the electric trolling motor to get in. I'm hopeful it's enough out of the way that I don't hit the steps if I drive the boat onto the trailer a little crooked. Time will tell. I haven't had it in the water yet to test it out. I'm also not using the "hand rail" piece. A plastic cap on one of the tubes arrived broken. They are supposed to be sending a replacement but haven't seen it yet (about 3 weeks). ..

Quality problem
by Larry from Salina, Kansas on June 08, 2012
Neat idea but it's made with pretty light metal and the paint is starting to rust already. Hasn't even been rained on or in the water yet I would to say that the step is a good idea but it needs a little stronger iron in the step and a good power coat paint job and then the step would be good. That's why I couldn't rate it with nothing more than a 3
