New 2008 Cruisers Yachts
The Vision of Cruisers Yachts
Over half a century ago, Cruisers Yachts began building lapstrake wooden boats in a small, picturesque Wisconsin town on the shores of Green Bay. Today, as part of the KCS International, Inc. family (which includes our sister company Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts) our boat building teams in Oconto, Wisconsin and Wilmington, North Carolina, have dramatically expanded our operation from where it began decades ago.
Everyone who works on one of our yachts takes tremendous pride in the company’s renowned heritage. Our talented craftsmen and women are dedicated to creating unparalleled yachts that embrace the best or contemporary naval architecture, engineering, technology and styling. Each remarkable yacht is the result of painstaking attention to detail, a passion for the boatbuilding process and the art processes with traditional, hands-on workmanship.
Cruisers Yachts has always stood for innovation, not imitation. We want to create the most beautiful, well thought-out. Additionally, we believe that we can best control the quality of our yachts when we make as many of the required parts as possible. The bottom line: From the standard features of our yachts to the special order requests and available options, we are committed to exceeding our customers expectations.
Cruisers Yachts is also committed to maintaining an ongoing relationship with each customer and making him on her a valuable member of the Cruisers Yachts family. We provide customers with our pledge: If you ever experience a problem with your Cruisers Yacht that is protected by our warranty but cannot be handled by your dealer to your satisfaction, we will provide free factory assistance through personal advice or send a trained service representative directly you.
History
In 1904 Thompson Bros. Boat Manufacturing Co. made its first home in the small, northern town of Peshtigo, Wisoncin starting the legacy of a family boat building business.
Always thinking big, and confident in the craft and durability they brought to the boat industry, the second generation of Thompson’s started building wood lapstrake outboard cabin cruisers in Oconto, Wisconsin in the early 1950’s. The first known Cruisers Yachts, Inc. catalog debuted in 1956, as prior to that the company was building 14’ and 16’ boats under the Thompson Bros. label.
In 1965 wood boats were replaced with fiberglass as the new technology was wreaking havoc with the wood boat business. In 1971 Cruisers Yachts, Inc. was sold to Mirro Aluminum Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It wasn’t until 1979, when Roy Thompson retired, that someone other than a Thompson ran the company.
Percision Components
Cruisers Yachts employs state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology to embrace the best of contemporary naval architecture, engineering, technology and styling. CAD/CAM allows greater manufacturing accuracy by providing exact dimensions for all components and subassemblies. This provides for more features and functionality into less space.
Fiberglass Parts
Cruisers Yachts is implementing resin transfer molding (RTM) to provide a superior finish on both sides of a fiberglass part. This environmentally friendly procedure also maintains consistent part weight and thickness.
Custom seating
We at Cruisers yachts have as much pride in your yacht as you do, so we handcraft all upholstery and cushions for exceptional, custom fit and finish.
Bow Rails and Deck Fittings
For added structural integrity and corrosion resistance, we at Cruisers Yachts fabricate our own welded bow rails using 316 stainless steel. To make sure bow rails stay securely fastened. Our Cruisers Yachts technicians laminate aluminum back-up plates into the deck.
