Poles
by Pamela from Spendora, Texas on July 31, 2014
Very worried that these poles will punch a hole in the boat cover over time. They do not stand up well. Keep falling down. Have had rain twice and both time had to bail out water.

Pole lengths lack flexibility
by Benjamin from Westfield, Indiana on July 15, 2014
The poles work OK but the extensions are fixed in length so you can't adjust the poles except to specific lengths. I would like to adjust the pole to be about six inches longer but the extensions are much longer.

by Robert from Greensboro, Georgia on January 12, 2013
Actually the support pole works fine. The reason I had to order it was the previous support poles I purchased had plastic inserts that broke rather than the metal sleeve. I sent an e-mail asking if I could get 6 more metal sleeves to replace the plastic inserts and have never heard back. Bob Stevenson rhs9@aol.com

Does the job
by Seth from Lititz, Pennsylvania on November 17, 2012
These poles work well enough. I purchased these to go along with a semi-custom cover because an exact fit custom cover was not available for my Four Winns. I thought they would come with snaps to attach to the inside of the cover. They did not. Apparently that is not an option with a semi-custom cover...only a custom cover. They do have the rubber feet that slide over the snap end and hold the pole stationary under the cover. The inner metal support pole does not slide very easily within the outer. I guess this is a good thing since the pole will not collapse very easily when installed under the cover, but it is kind of a pain when trying to collapse poles. Overall, they get the job done, but not the highest quality support poles I have used.

Snappy snap pole
by Andrew from Noblesville, Indiana on October 05, 2012
Works as expected. The rubber works well on non-carpet. I added some of the rough velcro to the bottom of one of my poles that sits on carpet to keep it from moving. So far so good.

A bit awkward to use
by Joseph from Chase City, Virginia on March 25, 2012
I intend to modify the poles by making wooden stands for them to make it easier to keep them upright. It would have great if they were made with "wings" attached to the feet to improve their upright stability.

Poles and Cover
by Kristine from Boyce, Louisiana on September 08, 2011
Pole broke upon installation. Of course, my husband was installing it on a cover that he bought from you all that is way too big and is not waterproof. It is a total mess and way too much money to spend for junk. We have never dealt with a pontoon boat before and have not known any better but that almost $400 cover cannot possibly be the correct one for our boat. We felt that it was too late to complain. His name is Warren Joubert and he purchased it in July, 2011.

by Kenneth from Mustang, Oklahoma on July 09, 2014
The biggest issue I have is that the instructions for the product stink, other than the how to cut a hole into your new boat cover. You get a bag of poles and other parts with what appear to be two connecting pipes. I comes with snap connection pole (which was nice) since my cover had a snap-support sewn in.

Lack of explanation in Advertising
by Craig from Petaluma, California on November 25, 2013
Its probably my fault that I did not know that I would have to cut a hole in the new cover to install this vent pole. I assumed that when I ordered this that it would have been made for the hole in the cover and that the new cover would have been reinforced in the area of the cut hole. They just give you instructions of cutting the hole. No way am I going to cut a hole in my new cover and not reinforce it.

Disappointing
by Kurtis from Antioch, Illinois on May 30, 2013
The vent requires you to cut into your cover to mount it- which will prevent you from returning your cover if you want to. The poles that slide into the adjusting bottom piece dont fit right. They are too large and require a lot of work to get it into the base. After that they're almost impossible to get apart. The vent itself seems fairly heavy-duty, which is a good thing.

Walked me through everything and when I decided what I wanted he sent a link directly to order the right product. He was the best. I ordered all right before Christmas and they said that it would ship within 24 days. To my surprise - everything arrived before Christmas. All the way around excellent experience.

17 ft MFG Gypsy Star cover and supports
by Beverly from Webster, New York on December 26, 2012
Our purchase was for both the boat cover (sized for a 17 foot MFG Gypsy Star) and the cover support system mentioned in this review. Since these items were purchased as a Christmas gift for my grandson there was a delay between purchase and the young boat owner becoming aware of "his treasure". As you might imagine he was extremely pleased and very surprised on Christmas morning. Both cover and support system must wait for winter to pass before they can be put to use since the boat is currently shrink wrapped to protect it from bad weather. We will re-review as soon as the items can be utilized. Perhaps you can guess that the time cannnot pass quickly enough for my grandson until he is able to get the boat back into the water.

It Takes More Than One Pole
by Pedro from Brunswick, Georgia on March 05, 2012
The cover for my 27ft boat came with only one support pole and one set of 12 straps (the cover has 24 loops for straps). After the first rainfall I bacame painfully aware that only one pole, and one set of straps are insufficient to properly stretch the cover to prevent water from pooling on sections of the cover. The pooled water was so heavy that it bent and ruined the one pole. I determined it takes at least 6 poles, and a larger number of straps to properly prevent water from pooling. I begrudgingly purchased the additional poles and an additional set of straps.

Vented Support Pole
by Thomas from Derby, New York on September 19, 2011
I was rather leary about cutting a hole in my brand new boat cover. I would have preferred it being done at the "factory", however I understand why it needs to be done after fitting the cover to the boat. It was easy! I took a deep breath, followed the simple instructions, cut the hole and put the fitting through. I was done. Works perfectly.

I think this product is designed well. There are various options for installation, which is a must because this product works for a variety of different covers. It looks like it should be stable and allow for air exchange. Getting the hole cut in the right place in your cover will be the biggest challenge with this product.

Cut a hole in my new boat cover ????? No way !!
by David from Grand Rapids, Minnesota on May 24, 2011
If this boat pole vent, requires the customer to cut their own hole, in their own brand new cover, how do you re-enforce the edges of the cut, to not fray over time ?? The cover should come with a plastic grommet in place, for the vent/pole to sit into. This is a huge waste of money, if every customer, has to do his/her own fabricating in order to make this work. What a joke. I thought this was a well thought out system, not a custom, DIY project. For all the money paying, should not have to be fabricating materials, to prevent fraying. If this is case, I guess I might be returning it all, and pay to get a custom cover, and vent system, even if twice as much. Worth it for time realization, in theory.

Q:
Before I order a cover fo my Party Barge I read comments about vented poll installation. Question? Why isn't there a extra piece of material to support this pole? I too do not want to cut a hole in my new cover.?
A:
It really depends on the cover you are interested in purchasing. Certain EnduraCover covers have reinforcement materials installed to support the vented support pole. However, if they do not, these fabrics are very strong and are able to hold their own. If you do not prefer to cut a hole in the cover, here are some other support poles that will work just as well: http://www.iboats.com/Boat-Cover-Support-Poles/dm/view_id.257693
Q:
How does it stay upright?
A:
You will be required to cut a circular hole to fit around the vent, which will help to hold it in place. The pole should stand up just fine on its own. Just be sure to not travel with it standing upright.
