    If you absolutely, positively want and cannot obtain an OEM outboard engine temperature gauge for your engine, then this is the gauge for you. To install, you must remove a head bolt, pass bolt thru hole in temp sensor so sensor lays flat against head (so it can read HEAD metal temp, NOT cooling system water temp), then re-install and re-torque head bolt. I returned this product unused. I got lucky and found OEM Force outboard temperature gauge kit (includes sender which installs by removing brass plug in head and threading sender into hole, thereby reading cooling system water temp).

    Very Good Battery Indicator, but... by Monika - Oswego, New YorkJune 10, 2013
    The product works as intended, however the electrical system on my 1988 Force 50 hp outboard isn't equipped with a voltage regulator, so this gauge needed to be on a separate switch, to prevent gauge from pegging the needle when engine was running (charging). It's a great battery quick check gauge to check battery charge level. If you are installing on a boat and want to keep an eye on battery AND charging system health while engine is running, I would recommend installing a volt meter instead. Probably best use for this gauge is for use with deep cycle battery used for trolling motor, etc.

    Good looking and functional product. My dash is 1-1/4" thick so I had to cut the clamping ring ears off to achieve a secure mount. I expected a problem, so I was not suprised. The terminals on the tach itself were designed for the spade type and since my old tach had the screw type which required new terminals to be installed on my existing wiring, again no problem. The actual hook-up was then very simple, easy and straight forward, the new tach is working perfectly.

    ...does NOT read RPM's on older outboard engines with 20 pole stator (alternator), therefor of no use to me. Found OEM Force Tachometer NIB instead. Returned Faria Tachometer unused.
