This manual is so poorly put together - many assumptions are made. For me, I want weights and measures at my finger tips. Perhaps if this was electronic it would be better. I think it has " that's a big damn book" syndrome. Meaning - it looks good on the shelf but adds little value to the reader. I wonder if it was converted into specific engine models it would be better? I think yes. I would pay the price again for that.... I could care less about the other engines.... It only gets in my way when my hands a greasy and I'm balancing a part and trying to flip useless pages That's how I roll

by Brian from Smithfield, Rhode Island on September 18, 2012
This is my first experience dealing with marine applications so I needed a manual that was easy to understand and could familiarize me with my 1987 Force 85. Not only is the text is easy to read but the book is filled with sound advice, the kind of tips you wish you had BEFORE you started. There are pictures and illustrations on almost every page that are well labeled and easy to see, which is very important if you've never done this kind of stuff before. There are technical specifications charts to help eliminate critical errors, which is very important since there are HUNDREDS of variations between engines. It's the next best thing to having a mechanic with you. One drawback I found is the book was written in 2000 and refers to some products which are no longer available, making it a little more difficult for me to find the right product I need now.

Over all manual was informative it was hard to navigate between all the different years options hp ratings that it was more frustrating then not. It is not the case for all but it seemed the small things I wanted torque specs gap cks appropriate voltage all these things said check with owner manual. If I had the owner manual I would not have bought this book. It covers to wide a span of things and leaves a lot blanks. It has a good grasp for understanding operations and how generally things work but lacks the detail for actual important aspects.

I've used several repair manuals in the automotive arena.....I can honestly say this is by far the best I have ever seen....The detail is amazing, it is well written and very easy to follow. I particularly like the breakdown of the difficulty level of each task as an identifer to level of knowledge needed to perform the task....Great job! Excelent buy....No question about it.....
