Perfect Match
by Stanley from Scroggins, Texas on December 06, 2011
After 15 years my ignition switch broke. I ordered this switch as a replacement and it was a perfect match. It was easy to install, simple to follow instructions and it works perfectly. Oh, I have a 1995 Mercury 150 XRI.

Q:
Does this switch have six prongs around the outside? I need one with all 6 around the outside. None in the middle?
A:
No this has one in the middle. There is one that is for outboard without choke circuit that has them all around the outside. Part number MP39730.

Q:
Will this work in a 1978 90 hp m-900 inline 6 ?
A:
Mercury does not list your motor under the applications it works with. So you will need to match it up by specs. Hole Size: 7/8". Length: Short: 5/8" maximum panel thickness. 6 screw tab terminal type. It is 3 positions, off-run-start. It is also a magneto type switch. Rated Choke: 7 Amp @ 12v DC. Rated Ignition: 15 Amp @ 12v DC. Rated Solenoid: 30 Amp @ 12v DC.

Q:
Will this switch work with A tohatsu 70 hp? it has 6 wires and is push to choke.?
A:
MarineWorks, aka Sierra, does not list your motor for a replacement. This does not have six wires, but has 6 screw tab terminals. It will also depend on hole size and max panel thickness needed.

Q:
What is the shaft length of this switch for dash mount?
A:
It can accommodate up to a 5/8" maximum panel thickness. Hole size require is 7/8".

Q:
Will this work my Mercury 40 hp 1975?
A:
Unfortunately no way for us to match it up by your engine. You need to know specs you require. This is a 3 position, 6 screw tab terminal type. It's a push to choke type ignition. Ignition is 15 amp @ 12V DC. Solenoid is 30 amp @ 12V DC. Choke is 7 amp @ 12V DC. It also accommodates up the 5/8" panel thickness and hole size of 7/8". If you have further questions contact us at the number at the top of the page.

Q:
What is largest Dia of switch body?
A:
MarineWorks, aka Sierra, does not have the diameter of the largest part of the body. The hole size is 7/8" and that's really what you need to know to install it because it fits behind the panel. It also accommodates a 5/8" max panel thickness.

Q:
Will this work for 1998 yamaha 115 2 stroke ?
A:
There are many things we will need to confirm. These are for Mercury motors, but we will need to know how many terminals your original has, what type (push to choke or not), etc. If you can give us more information we should be able to match it up.
