    Started first time
by William from Emmaus, Pennsylvania on July 03, 2014
I bought the 2.5 H.P. for use with my Foldcat 440 inflatable pontoon boat. This motor started the very first time. It's lightweight, easy to handle and smooth running. I am using it with a 2.5 gallon fiberglass propane tanks which makes it very easy to see how much fuel is left in the tank. Seems to be very fuel efficient, a full tank lasts a long time and supplies plenty of power for this boat. I would definitely make the same purchase again.

I wrote a review a couple weeks back. Just wanted to let you know, we still have not received our motor back from the mechanic. Apparently they've been waiting on a part from Lehr that just came in. It's been over five weeks since we brought in the brand new motor after the first time of use. Not good. Thank you, Sheri Sutton

Motor shutting down after first use
by Sheri from Oxnard, California on December 13, 2013
Hi, We just purchase a new Lehr 2.5hp outboard. We used it once and it kept sputtering and stop running at low idle. We called Lehr and they had us bring it to the certified mechanic in our area. It's been two weeks and they're still working on it. Claims it has a lot of problems. They are working with Lehr. Problem is, we would like to have it back and useable over Christmas. This is really unsatisfactory. If it has many probems and it is brand new, Lehr should send us a brand new one. Please advise. Thank you. Sheri Sutton

    Works great...until the bracket breaks
by David from Titusville, Florida on November 22, 2013
The bolt that held this to it's bracket corroded and the motor fell off while I was not with the boat. It sunk to the bottom of the river! Motor worked great until this happened. I'm guessing some design improvements (a little FEA Analysis on the loading through that bolt/shaft) and perhaps a higher grade stainless steel with a higher molybdenum content would fix this issue. I can't decide if I will buy another or go to a traditional gas motor.

    Lehr 2.5 Outboard
by Rod from Shapleigh, Maine on July 26, 2012
I've had the outboard for a few weeks now, and I've run about 4 1lb bottles of propane through it. works as advertised. This outboard pushes my walker bay 8' at a fair clip. 1 bottle will last about an hour, ALWAYS CARRY A SPARE, when its gone its gone. Overall I'm happy with it. Its light, easy to load on off our sailboat. very quiet and smooth running.

Get rid of the gas one!
by Jeff from Los Angeles, California on July 23, 2012
Got this at the beginning of the season after seeing it being shown off at the miami boat show. It has got some pretty impressive power behind it for being propane, and to not have to deal with gas, tanks, and spilling anymore is well worth the switch. Starts easily and gets me to a nice speed!

    idle adjustment problem
by David from Poland, Maine on July 22, 2012
the idle adjustment screw has come loose twice now (it has only been used 5 times). When it does the motor runs wide open until you shut it off.
