I purchased the Lehr 5.0hp for my Lake Tahoe trip. Hoping the propane motor would live up to being environmentally friendly. I unloaded the motor to put on my new 14 foot inflatable boat and found a puddle of oil on the cars carpet. I wiped down the motor only to find a oilshean on the water after mounting. The Lehr 5hp Propane motor sounded like a diesel engine when running. It turned out to be a raddle trap leaking oil. Back home and the motor mounted on the bench still leaks puddles of oil. NOT GOOD NOT HAPPY Rick @ Tahoe

by Stan from Denver, Colorado on June 24, 2013
The Lehr 5hp Long Shaft is easy to start by either the first or second pull. After running full bore then reducing down to an idle the motor quits. You have to keep the throttle up a bit to prevent shut off. I adjusted the outside carb screw but I think what is happening is the screw is vibrating loose. I have not had the outboard long enough to fine tune the engine. I am going to try lock tight and then test it on the water. The other item I am not pleased about, as mention numerous times in other post, are the fasteners to the top cover. The alignment is off and the front won’t even clasp. I read this will be remedied later. Overall the outboard is great with a couple of items to address.

    by a Customer on December 14, 2012
Live in WA purchased motor this site, quick delivery and easy transaction! Motor not so great. Had issues right out of the box. Wouldn't idle correctly so had to call and they walked me through it. Never ran correctly, idles high but when in gear is normal. Motor sounds clunky and like it slightly knocks. At WOT motor has a miss once in a while but runs okay. Hood wont close right, latches extremely flimsy. Paint has came off skeg very quickly. Electrical inside motor look cheap and piping has shoddy welds. Refueling is a hassle and I don't trust this motor on long trips. Thought it was American Company with American Price, disappointment being made in China, obvious Yamaha knockoff.
