The cheap bearings fail in a few years
by David from Homosassa, Florida on May 26, 2016
I have used seat swivels for 3 decades. These stainless swivels do not last. The problem is that the poly bearings are inferior quality and have failed in less than 3 years of use. In the past the old painted steel swivels with steel bearings held up for many more years despite the eventual rust and corrosion that occurs over time. The other significant problem with the stainless swivels is that the bases are pressed together so tightly that the swivels are very difficult to turn. When the bearings fail it renders the entire swivel worthless.

I reviewed this product after only a few weeks on my boat. The bottom base is not stainless! I had thought that this was just a passivation problem (a coating of iron on top of the stainless) wrong... I think that the stainless bases were not used on the two units that I bought. I plan to return this junk and have them replaced, trouble is it takes about an hour per seat to remove and reinstall. I'll check with a magnet next time. I wish that I could post a photo, the rust is making a mess of my white bench. PLEASE CHECK THE MATERIAL OF THESE SWIVELS!!!

Better than steel
by Robert from Souderton, Pennsylvania on August 25, 2015
Bought these stainless steel versions to replace the plain powder coated swivels that were on my ocean going boat for the past two years. After two years the plain steel units were rusting and losing pain and worse the locking tab was bent and would not engage (passengers on the boat don't know how to use these and can get rough) The ball bearing swivel was rusty and the entire mechanism was lose! After two years of light use. The Stainless version was a direct drop in replacement, instead of ball bearings a hard plastic bearing is used, I know it wont far its smooth. I've noticed that in less than one month the bottom of the base has begun to rust all over, I don't think this is serious because the parts are probably not passivized and this is jus the surface iron and it may not get much worse. Overall good product, somewhat disappointed about the rust, a appearance and we'll see how the single rivet and plastic bearing hold up over time

Product is as pictured and advertised
by Don from Conroe, Texas on June 25, 2015
It looks well built and replaced a unit that had been on the boat for 10 years. Stainless if the only way to go for offshore boats.I can't give it a 5 until I see how it weathers.

Great upgrade for worn/rusted seat mounts
by Nicholas from Brandon, Mississippi on June 14, 2015
I recently started repairing and customizing my StumpknockerII and wanted to keep the original look but add some functionality. The original seat swivels were beyond saving and the captain's chair had actually pulled out of the hull screws and all. So after making the repairs I decided to opp for all new hardware. I found this locking version of the original swivel and really liked the idea. Its annoying to spin oneself while steering the boat. I drilled pilot holes to screw it into the boat and the mount bolted to my existing chair flawlessly. It looks great and the handle hides just below the corner of the seat. You can easily unlock it with two fingers and spin to you desired position. Its very s y and comes with a warning sticker for the chair.

High Quality
by William from Tucson, Arizona on July 27, 2014
These were installed on the bench seat of a Boston Whaler 130 Super Sport. The seat swivel appears to be well constructed and functions smoothly. The only issue was that the bolt pattern did not match the pattern on a pair of Wise seats which required new holes being drilled thru the seat mount. No fault of the seat swivel.
