Once you find your spot, every second counts. That’s why Talon uses an efficient two stage deployment to move down through the water faster than the competition.
It also features auto up / down, which lets you deploy Talon by tapping a button on either your wireless remote or the control panel. So you don’t waste time holding down a button and waiting. With fast automatic stow and deploy, you can anchor in quicker and get back to fishing.
Two Stage Deployment
Once you’ve hit the down button to deploy Talon, it quickly and quietly goes to work. It deploys vertically to stay out of your way and minimize disruption on the bottom. Using a sequential two stage deployment, Talon moves efficiently down through the water without spooking fish.
Once the spike anchors into the bottom, it stops automatically and Talon shows you how far down its deployed. Each light on the LED display equals one foot of depth so you know how far down you are anchored.
Currents and waves can rock your boat to loosen your anchor, but with Talons built in wave absorption, you won’t lose your position. Wave absorption comes standard and uses a floating suspension to allow your boat to move up and down without affecting the anchors hold. No matter the conditions, Talon keeps you locked to the bottom.
Talon packs up to twice the anchoring and retracting force of the competition and features auto drive for the most secure hold on the water. Once the spike reaches the bottom, auto drive automatically powers the spike in with 3 successive hits using increasing levels of force with each hit. The secure hold of auto drive positions your boat so you can position the perfect cast.
Rough Water Mode
Auto drive provides more than enough force to hold you in place but when winds pick up, chop is heavy, or the tide comes in, just activate rough water mode for the most secure anchoring. At the push of a button, rough water mode performs 3 auto drive sequences at 10 second intervals. So you get 3 times the hold to combat even the most challenging conditions.

Video TranscriptionHey everybody I’m Joe Balog. We are doing a little bass fishing today. One thing that has really changed the way I fish are shallow water anchors. These are Minnkita Talons. I fish a lot on offshore structures and when you make the perfect cast to a spot and you catch a fish. It just seems like so often if you could duplicate that exact cast, it’s the key, that exact angle to catching fish off a structure spot. And nothing will help you more than shallow water anchors. Because you’re a long, there is not much to line up on. You get a bite on a certain angle; if you could stick the boat right there you know it really really comes in handy. So that’s helped me tremendously to slow down a thoroughly finished structure.
I’ve got two talons on this boat and I’ve got a remote here on my console and a remote up my trolling motor, which I can use at any time. I can take these with me but I usually just mount them. But what I’ve done is I’ve taken these remotes that come with talons and I put one up in the bow and one on my console. They come with just a little two-sided tape on this remote holder which is unbelievably strong. And I have gone ahead; you see both of my talons are down. I have gone ahead for my personal use and I have programmed these remotes so both the talons work off of my remotes. At no time do I ever just put one down. But what I’ve done is I have programmed so they both go down and they both come up. And the way you do this is a really easy. If you just come back here and you hold up. While it’s up it will beep, you hit your remote and that means it has now heard your remote. So I just did that with both talons, with both remotes and now I’ve got essentially a dual remote in one. They make a dual remote too so that you can operate them independently, but I always use them both. And then you always have your remotes where you need them, then you’re ready to go.
They are also great around the boat dock, because you push your boat in gear when coming off the trailer. You just stick your talons in, you never have to tie to the dock, and it’s fantastic. That’s one of the awesome things too about those talons, is that you just stick them in when you’re at the dock.
