Old Town Canoe Vapor 10 Angler - Kayak Boat

Pros: price, very stable, roomy, large open cockpit makes entry/exit easy and allows space to carry a small child or smaller dog if you need to, tracks fairly well for a small rec kayak, two cup holders, paddle rest, good seat, two rod holders, only 44 lbs. Cons: considering the price, not much. This doesn't seem to be the fastest kayak in its size group. I think my Perception Sundance cuts through water more quickly. My guess is that a Wilderness Systems 10' Pungo would noticeably outperform this kayak, but that would also cost $200-$300 more. I live in Minnesota and use shorter kayaks mostly for small and medium sized lake fishing and a few hours of recreation paddling at a time. If you have similar purposes, I don't think you could do better for anything close to the price (Mine was just under $400 on sale). Maybe this kayak wouldn't be so suitable for multiple floats on a rough river, but I usually rent kayaks or canoes for the occasional river float anyway. Given its relative lack of speed, it would probably become tiresome if used for a longer paddling trip. but my guess is that even considerably more expensive kayaks in its size group wouldn't be that much better.
