The Re-Action® System docking station fits your existing Minn Kota® MicroTouch® corded foot pedal. The trolling motor operator sets the desired "Compensation Speed" on the Re-Action® System. When wind gusts or water currents cause a need for an increase in motor speed, the operator presses and holds down their foot pedal tap switch. The trolling motor speed is immediately increased to the new "Compensation Speed" level previously selected by the operator. Once the variation in wind and water speed subsides, the operator simply releases the tap switch and the motor returns to the base speed setting. Now you have total boat control.
What trolling motor models does the docking station fit?
The docking station format fits the Minn Kota® PowerDrive™ electric steer trolling motors, model years 1992 - 2006 (MicroTouch™ foot pedal). The owner/purchaser mounts their foot pedal onto the docking station. This Re-Action® System docking station will not work with cordless foot pedals or the new PowerDrive™ V2 trolling motors. A docking station format is now available for the PowerDrive™ V2.
How does the Re-Action® System connect to my trolling motor?
The Re-Action® System docking station fits your MicroTouch™ corded foot pedal. Your foot pedal mounts on top of the docking station and the foot pedal control cord wraps up inside and plugs into the Re-Action® System docking station. The Re-Action® System control cord then plugs into the trolling motor. No additional power cords or batteries are required.
Is the Re-Action® System docking station difficult to install?
It takes about 15 minutes for the average person to mount their foot pedal to the Re-Action® System docking station. It is easier to have a second pair of hands to help wrap the foot pedal cord into the base of the docking station.
How does the Re-Action® System work?
1. Turn the Re-Action® System switch to 'on'.
2. Turn the foot pedal mom/con switch to the 'constant' position and select the main throttle speed on the foot pedal for crawling along the shoreline or trolling.
3. On the 'Compensation Throttle Dial', select how much compensation speed is required to fight back against wind gusts or water currents.
4. When you need to fight back against wind gusts or water currents, or 'bump' ahead, press and hold the foot pedal tap switch (momentary switch) and the trolling motor instantly speeds up to the selected compensation speed. The Re-Action occurs within a half second.
5. To obtain the best boat control results, drop your heel on the tap switch to hold down, while pivoting on your heel and steering left and right using the side ridges of the foot pedal, i.e., don't rock your ankle, pivot on your heel and step on the side ridges to steer. Now you have power and steering at the same time and your boat will respond 5x faster.
6. When the gust of wind subsides or the boat is in the desired position, release the tap switch to return to the previous main throttle speed setting.
7. To return to momentary mode, simply move the mom/con switch back to the momentary position for tap on/tap off operation.
8. To use the Re-Action® mode with an automatic course correction system, simply;
1. Set the compass heading
2. Select the main throttle speed in constant mode for the slow crawl or troll speed,
3. Pre-set the Compensating Throttle to a higher speed to adjust for wind gusts or water currents,
4. When the wind or current begins to overpower the automatic course correction system, just press and hold the tap switch and the increased thrust will pull the boat back onto the compass heading. No steering or throttling up and down is needed!
Now you have the best features of momentary and constant on modes combined into the 'Re-Action® Mode' and 5x better boat control!
