Safety switch installed
by Stefan from Lynnfield, Massachusetts on August 19, 2013
I ordered from iboats for a good price compared to other sources, it shipped and arrived quickly. The switch works exactly as expected and was easy to install except that I had to take the motor control box back out of my console to install the switch. As far as the price charged by Teleflex goes, it is likely a $5 micro switch if you could find it in an electronic parts catalog someplace. Since that is not too likely you are stuck paying 600% markup. Also, it would seem that if you are paying $400 for a motor control they could just include the switch for that price or even just add the $5 cost to the price and not make it an option since the Coast Guard requires it. Then, if you do not want the neutral start safety feature then just do not connect the switch to your start button / switch / key circuit. A warning to the buyer / installer, Teleflex instructions for controls, cables, switches are not great. If you are not good at figuring out instructions and understanding mechanical devices you may want to go to a boat yard / dealer to have it installed, adjusted, etc.

Will this work with my 1993 johnson 175hp?
A:
This is not suitable for Johnson control cables. You can order a 3300 cable (such as part number CCX633 and whatever length you need) and get connections to adapt it to this remote. You will need part numbers 304939 and CA27320P to adapt it.

Q:

A:
No this will not work for your engine. You have an electric shift outboard so that means you will need an electric shift switch which we do not offer.

Q:
Will this work for 1987 90HP V4 Johnson?

Yes, it will work with your engine.

Q:
I have a 85hp force outboard (model 856X5L). I need the neutral warm up function as well. Will this control box fit my boat, I have Top Glenddinning Pro-X cables (A710015FT27712 and A710015FT12613 ) throttle and shift respectively. Thanks?
A:
This is a universal part and can go on any boat. You'll need to get the correct control cable for Force engines, but the universal end of the Force cable will fit to this control lever box.

Q:
Would this be the best control unit for a 1968 mercury 500?
A:
It will depend on your motor's capabilities. This is a dual function, single lever meaning the single lever controls both throttle and shift. You will need to get the Universal cable such as CCX633 cable. You will need to know cable length required. You will also need a connection kit, part number CA27319P.

Q:
Is this what I need for my 1988 Evinrude, 3 cyl. 60 hp?
A:
You can use this with your outboard. You will need different cables though as this does not accept OEM style cables. You will need CA27320P connection kit to go with the cable, CCX633XX (depending on cable length needed).

A:
You can use this on that boat yes. It accepts these cables: http://www.iboats.com/3300-Xtreme-Control-Cables-by-SeaStar/dm/view_id.1268456

Q:
Will this work on a 1990 70hp evinrude? I see no key switch or a place to plug in my wiring harness?
A:
It is a universal control unit for all single-station outboards and sterndrives with mechanical transmissions. It does not work with OEM cables though and you will need the 3300/33C cables for these to work. This has no key switch. For more info call us at the number at the top of the page.

Q:
Will this control work with my 1995 50hp Johnson outboard motor mounted on my 1988 20 foot Fiesta pontoon boat ?
A:
This is a universal control that will work with most outboard/sterndrive engines and replaced side mount single controls. It isn't specifically for the boat you have listed, but should work with it, along with various boats of that nature.

Q:
Will this work for my 1989 force motor?
A:
Yes as long as you use the universal cables: http://www.iboats.com/Force-Universal-Type-Control-Cables/dm/view_id.250923
