Atomic Reaction. The quake at the lake.

Let’s say you and a group of buddies are heading out for a day of wakeboarding on the Sea Ray 230 Select Fission and you want to watch your friends’ tricks. The 230 Select Fission’s backseat flips up to create an aft-facing lounge on top of the motorbox.

To port, another cushion of the same bench seat flips over to reveal rubber nonslip on the underside. Use this to create easy passage to the swim platform when it’s your turn to hit the water. Instead of rough nonslip that could chafe your board, the platform is covered in the same soft rubber.

Because this boat’s main focus is wakeboarding, the 230 Select Fission is equipped with a properly installed aluminum tower that comes with a Bimini top.

Drivers aren’t forgotten in the 230 Select Fission. Cluster-style SmartCraft gauges are arranged in a stainless-steel dash and all are in clear view. Up front, a walkthrough closes off the bow. The forward seats pick up so you can access stowage in the base, and there’s a filler cushion to create a big playpen.

When you want to stop somewhere to grab lunch after a morning of shredding, the board locker is plenty big and locks to secure its contents. There’s additional space for towels, towlines, and similar items in the 6"-wide gunwale trays.

For a long life, the 230 Select Fission is built with a cockpit liner and a conventional non-cored laminate. Installation and rigging for the 350 MAG MPI and accessories looked clean.

No matter how many cool things there are on the boat, it still needs to perform and the 230 Select Fission delivers. It planes in 4.7 seconds and holds plane at about 18 to 20 mph, right where boarders like to ride. At the end of the day, you can make a 48.1-mph dash back to the docks to check out the videotape of your cool tricks—and your buddies’ wipeouts.
