Cetol® Marine is an easy to apply, low
maintenance alternative to oils and varnishes. Cetol is formulated with synthetic pigments to protect the wood from exposure to UV and keep it
looking beautiful with the least maintenance necessary.
It is flexible, resistant to impact damage and abrasion it allows for natural expansion and contraction of wood.
How is Cetol® Marine Different? Cetol Marine contains synthetic transparent iron oxide pigments, which shield the wood against
sunlight. This effectively protects the wood’s lignin, a key component in its strength, which is degraded by exposure to UV. It is these pigments that give Cetol Marine its attractive appearance.
Cetol Marine durable surface film protects the
wood from the elements and marine
environment. It has excellent weathering
properties and, importantly, is flexible. This characteristic means that its protective shell is
very resistant to impact damage and abrasion, and allows for natural expansion and contraction of wood.
Cetol Marine is microporous, allowing the wood to breathe. This helps to keep the moisture content of the wood stable as it allows it to
escape from the wood. It also means it may be applied to wood with a higher moisture content (up to 18%) compared to varnish application.
Cetol Marine penetrates the surface of the wood on application, providing long-term water repellence and protecting the wood from water damage.
Cetol Marine is formulated to a lower viscosity
than most varnishes. This allows excellent wood penetration, easy and rapid application of coats and superb flow and leveling preventing the need
for sanding between coats.
This, combined with its quick drying, makes it a really easy-to use. Cetol Marine is formulated for use on all marine woods, and is particularly
suitable for tropical hardwoods like teak.
How Do I Prepare The Wood Prior to Using Cetol® Products?
Exterior - New Wood

Wipe the wood with Special Thinner 216 to remove the oils from the surface. After
evaporation of Special Thinner 216, sand all exterior surfaces with 120-grit sandpaper.

Remove all sanding dust by vacuuming followed by wiping the surface with a dampened
cloth with Interlux® Brushing Liquid 333. Let the surface dry completely.

Wipe the surface once more and let dry completely before applying Cetol
Interior - New Wood

Spray the surface with clean water to wet the wood.

Clean the surface with a solution of Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP) dissolved in warm water.
Apply the solution and scrub the wood with a sponge/synthetic abrasive pad.

Rinse the surface with a damp sponge until completely free of the cleaning solution.

Let the wood surface dry out completely before coating (i.e. the moisture content must be
below 18%).

Lightly sand the wood with 180-220 grit sandpaper along the length of the grain.

Use a brush or vacuum to remove all sanding dust.

Shipping to Canada
Most products sold by iboats.com can be purchased and shipped to Canada. Some restrictions apply to certain items, such as hazardous materials, over-weight products, and the method of shipping. Available product lines, shipping rates and fees may vary depending on the delivery address for your order.
Currently, iboats.com offers ground shipping to all Canada provinces. Our Canadian brokerage service accelerates your orders through the Customs clearance process and facilitates the delivery of your order through Canada Post or the best method based on your shipping address. We do not currently offer expedited shipping methods to Canada.
At iboats.com we want to simplify your transaction and give you a pleasing purchasing experience so you'll come shop with us again and again. We therefore calculate all the duties, taxes, and other fees specific to Canadian orders and show you the total landed cost of getting the order to your door. If you don't wish to have an iboats.com Account with password, do nothing and your account won't be registered; however, you can respond to the instructions in the email and easily register your account and setup a password. This will allow you to sign in to your account by choosing the Order Status link from any iboats.com page, where you can browse your order history and track the status of all your orders - tracking numbers are displayed that link to the delivery carrier's tracking webpage.
If you have provided your email address during checkout, we will also email you your invoice, which includes a link for tracking your order and viewing the current status of your order. Refer to your invoice email and tracking link any time you wish to track the status of your order
Return Policy
We're here to help! We understand that sometimes a product you purchase just doesn't work out, which is why we want to make the return process as easy as possible for you. After all, we want you to be satisfied with your order so you'll return again and again as an iboats.com customer, and to also recommend us to your boating friends.
Unless specified otherwise, an item(s) may be returned within the first 30 days after the item(s) is shipped to you. Merchandise must be in new, unopened and unused condition with all original packaging in good condition; plus parts, accessories, manuals, and/or warranty cards included. You will need to receive a return authorization number (RA #) as well as instructions from our Customer Service Department.
If needed, we recommend starting your return online to receive a Return Authorization Number(RA #). Returned items(s) that do not have an RA # will not be accepted.
Warranty
iboats.com has a 30-day return policy. After 30 days of your purchase, the manufacturer of the product(s) will need to be contacted for a warranty claim. If you need assistance finding the manufacturers number please contact our Customer Service Department.
Returns for Canadian Customers
Canadian customers, please be careful when placing your order; iboats.com does not accept any return merchandise on Canadian orders unless the merchandise you received was defective, damaged, or an error was made by iboats.com. In such cases, return the merchandise within 30 days of the original shipping date for a full refund.
