Full StarFull StarFull StarFull StarFull StarCan't believe the difference in my boat.
by Robert from London, Kentucky on June 14, 2015
I was missing about 2 to 3 inches of my skeg. The tips of my prop actually ran lower than my skeg, had to be real careful where i went or it would have been easy to hit the prop. maybe it's just me but it seems like in rough waters the steering is more responsive and now my skeg is about 1 inch below the prop and i have a skid plate on there to help avoid bottoming out at the dock, green horn mistake (done that once and it cost me a prop). installed in 20 minutes, took longer to get tools out than to install! can't say enough about iboats, ordered on Tuesday and had on Friday installed and on the water on Sa ay. thanks iboats, great service!

by Brian from Fairmount, Indiana on September 08, 2013
I purchased a boat with a broken skeg, I used the SkegGard to repair it and being the new boater made the rookie mistake and didn't raise the lower unit when trailering. Dragged a few feet before I realized it and the only damage was scratches on the bottom of the SkegGard long story short the SkegGard is the best money I have spent and it really held up well, won't ever make that mistake again I hope!!

Q:
Does this skeggard fit 1978 mercury 90?
A:
This will not work for your outboard. The only option we have is a replacement skeg (RS-2-DP) that you can check will work by measurements: http://www.iboats.com/Replacement-Skeg-TH-Marine/dm/view_id.40152
Q:
Will this fit model 1258v8b I have tried others that said will fit 125 hp force?
A:
No this will not fit that model according to Skeggard. 99018 skeggard fits 120-125-150 HP 2 stroke 1988-1996 motors.
Q:
My skeg hit a rock and broke off. How much original skeg must be intact to use your product? How does it attach to the sterndrive?
A:
You must have 2-3 inches of skeg remaining.
