About Sylvan Boats

Sylvan boats have their roots in a rural Indiana town named Wolcottville. The plant began producing pontoon boats and small house boats in the late 1940's under the name of Sylvan Boats. It's founder, John Cripe managed a prospering business until he made the decision to sell in 1965. The new owner, John Graff changed the company name to Sylvan Marine at the time of purchase. Over the next several years Mr.Graff continued to refine the style of the boats being produced and to improve manufacturing processes. This cycle of improvement helped to fuel the spiraling growth of Sylvan Boats.


In the early 70's the company passed hands once again when Harold Schrock purchased the company from his son-in-law John Graff. In 1975 we started producing aluminum fishing boats and runabouts to expand beyond the pontoon boat market. Over the years through leading edge innovations, sound manufacturing principals, strict attention to detail and a true commitment to meeting the needs of it's customers Sylvan Boats has emerged as a leader in the boating industry. The company's main complex is located in the town of New Paris, Indiana. Thirty one buildings make up the complex putting approximately 1,000,000 square feet under roof and covering nearly forty acres of land. Sylvan Boats also has plants in Minong, WI, Lagrange, GA and Stayton, OR.


Sylvan Boats has become a household name in the aluminum fishing boat and recreational boating circles.
