The Department of Homeland Security is now funding the development of a robotic Tuna. This new development will be called the BIOswimmer, a robotic fish. The design is meant to imitate a Tuna, one of the more agile creatures of the ocean. Not only are the fins strategically placed, but this unmanned underwater vessel is meant to handle the harshest environments.
The BIOswimmer robofish will not only be able to inspect the hulls of vessels, but scan the ocean floor and hard to reach places for contraband. This battery powered Tuna has interchangeable parts which allow it to be optimized for certain missions. This robotic fish is operated from a desktop or laptop, which makes things much easier. Imagine having a remote control fish, you could just explore for days!
