This park is known for its rare and delicate environment, where freshwater and saltwater meet to create a habitat rich in marine and plant life. Motorboats are allowed only on the river. Rental boats have no motors. Croaker Landing, the park boat launch facility, provides access to the York River and includes a parking area, a dock and restrooms. Guided canoe trips, beginning at the visitor center, provide visitors a lesson in salt-marsh ecology while they tour beautiful wetlands surrounding Taskinas Creek. Paddleboats, hydro bikes and jonboats can be rented for use on the pond; rented canoes are available for use on the creek and the river Easter through the end of October. The York River, where catfish, spot, croaker, striper and crabs are plentiful, is accessed at Croaker Landing boat launch and requires a valid Virginia saltwater fishing license. Taskinas Creek, containing catfish and white perch, requires either a valid saltwater or freshwater Virginia fishing license.

Green River State Park -

Green River State Park is an oasis on the bank of the Green River where tall cottonwood trees shade well-manicured lawns. The park is a favorite embarkation point for river trips through Labyrinth and Stillwater canyons and is a good base for seeing much of southeastern Utah. Within a two-hour drive are Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef national parks; Dead Horse Point and goblin Valley state parks; Lake Powell; the San Rafael Reef; and Horseshoe Canyon. The park is the beginning point for the annual 180-mile Friendship Cruise. Camping, boating and fishing available.

Cossatot River State Park -

This park-natural area extends 11 miles along this wild and scenic river. The river forms Cossatot Falls, a rugged and rocky canyon that challenges the most experienced canoeists and kayakers (Class IV rapids). Floatable river levels are usually limited to late-fall, winter and spring. For river stage information (in feet) from the Highway 246 access, call: (501) 387-3141. Due to limited flow levels dependent upon rainfall, no floater services are provided on the Cossatot.

The Apple River has a variety of fish including smallmouth bass, sunfish, crappie, carp, and suckers. When economically feasible the Illinois Department of Natural Resources stocks Apple River with keeper-size trout. The river is one of several in the state where the department releases this fish. Trout require clean, clear, cold water and in the spring, Apple River meets these requirements. However, the fish do not live through the hot summer months so the stream is stocked on a put-and-take basis. License and trout stamps may be obtained at the park office.

The park is 1,604 acres with 5.6 miles of river frontage along the south fork of the Shenandoah River. The rolling, mountainous land features steep slopes and is mostly wooded. The park offers a car top access in the day-use area, located 3.2 miles downstream from the Bentonville access area. The "fish trap" access area, near Shelter 3, is suitable for wade fishing. Freshwater fishing is available, however there are no boat rentals. There are three car-top launches and three outfitters within five minutes of the park.

Located in Howard and Montgomery counties, along the upper 12 miles of the Patuxent River, the park is comprised of 6,700 acres of natural areas and farmlands. Recreational use is primarily hunting, fishing, hiking horseback riding. Paths are unmarked. Paths lead from parking areas at road crossings over the river. Hunting is permitted only in designated areas. A portion of the park is a state wildlands area. Catch and release trout stream, designated hunting areas, unmarked hiking and equestrian trails.
