iboats.com announces agreement with Land'N'Sea

Press Release | September 19, 2001

United States

iboats.com yesterday announced that it has signed a long-term product distribution and supply agreement with Land'N'Sea Distributing, Inc., making Land'N'Sea the primary supplier of marine parts and accessories for iboats-affiliated dealer online stores.

This arrangement provides the iboats.com Marine MegaMall, and its hundreds of marine retailer's online stores, access to Land'N'Sea's tens of thousands of SKU's and multiple shipping locations, said the companies.

"We're delighted to have reached a comprehensive fulfillment agreement with the leading marine parts and accessories distributor in the world," said Bruno Vassel III, iboats.com president and chief executive officer (CEO).

Land'N'Sea gives iboats.com the ability to strengthen its mission of actively supporting the local marine dealer, added Vassel.

"On a larger scale than ever before this strategic relationship with Land'N'Sea and their multiple locations throughout the US and Canada allows participating dealers to recapture sales and revenue lost to low-cost, non-dealer-channel competitors over the past ten years just by taking advantage of the iboats programs. Dealers gain the ability to earn profits on the sales of tens of thousands of parts and accessories that are sold to the public at very competitive prices within their own online stores."

The agreement with Land'N'Sea allows iboats and its dealer network to move into exciting new marine market segments and product lines not previously open, according to iboats.

Speaking for Land'N'Sea Distributing, Bill Slansky, president and chief executive officer said, "We have been very cautious about building a relationship with any dot com during the recent weakness of Internet retailers. As we carefully looked at iboats.com it was clear that they have structured their business in a sound financial manner, and have kept within our philosophy of openly supporting and not competing with the independent dealer."

"We see this relationship as an additional way for Land'N'Sea to support our retail dealers and encourage all of our customers to find ways to use the power of the Internet to further improve their business profits."

David Ray, executive director of the Marine Industry Association of Florida (MIAF), said he sees the partnership as another way to build traffic not only to their Florida dealers' online stores but also to their online boat listings. "We see this as a very strong addition to the iboats.com offering...making the iboats Web sites and marketing packages more valuable to our members than ever before and helping our members to sell more boats, motors and accessories. There is no doubt that iboats.com has the complete dealer package."

Based in Salt lake City, Utah, iboats.com offers retailers with online boat listings, a complete Web site and a fully stocked online store.
