Propulsion Type: Other Hull Material: Other Extras More Information 1996 Larson 174 SEiAre you looking for a boat that you can just turn the key and go out for a weekend’s worth of fun with your family, and that won’t break your wallet at the fuel pumps?   Marine Dynamics stumbled across this little 1996 Larson 174SEi and it meets the above criteria perfectly.  Powered by a reliable 4 cylinder I/O and backed by a Volvo Penta SX Bravo outdrive that would be perfectly at home with a V-8 ahead of it.  From stem to stern this is a wonderful little boat but where it counts, back at the engine and outdrive, this boat is based on the age-old principle of “the less that can go wrong the less that will go wrong”.   It’s made for the small family that just wants to get out on the water and play.  Whether its beaching, snorkeling, pulling a couple of skiers or just loading up a couple of families worth of kids and wandering around checking out our Florida Waterways this boat is ready to just go do it.     The open bow design gives it the room of many larger boats while at the same time there is a comfortable seating area and storage.  The cockpit has a helm that makes operating it a pleasure while at the same time the passengers’ rear and left seat are comfortable.  The former owner paid attention to all the little details and no option was spared when it was ordered.  From the sound system to the cup holders this boat is a class act built to provide years of on the water entertainment for you, your family and friends.   For those days when you just want to get out and do some snorkeling or just hop off and walk around your favorite grassflat or shallow reef; there is what us at the marina call “an old guy friendly” dive ladder that pretty much anyone is comfortable using.  Granted, it’s a really simply designed ladder but then again when it comes to comfort and ease of use – often simplicity wins over complex and flashy.    When you have 3 or 4 adults and their kids along, skis and water toys can sit right through the center without being in the way.  Come time to beach her you can rest assured that Larson laid in some extra fiberglass at the forward section of the bow because they knew that’s what folks like to do in these little boats.   Of course this boat still makes dad look like a hero when you take your son or daughter out and feel the need for speed. It’s neatly stable and handles forgivingly so you can turn your kid loose at the wheel and (with supervision) let him or her crack open the throttle to hang with most of the bay blasters running around.  The hull design gives that “real raceboat” feel that your kid will brag about to all his or her friends and fulfills that age old Southern Tradition of Father/child bonding via speed, horsepower and the feel of the wind in your faces.  That experience is enhanced by the fact that this boat sucks down very little fuel and you can let your kid run it for as long as they like without having to break out much more than the loose cash in your wallet for gas.   The engine and outdrive are very simple to work on and won’t need it often, but come wrench turning time it is the perfect platform to teach your child basic maintenance skills that will last a lifetime.  Unfortunately this was one of the Larsons that you very rarely have to do much more than routine maintenance so it’s not likely you will need to turn wrenches for more than oil changes, tune ups and lower end lube.    This is a turn key, ready to run boat that will provide years of family fun with more smiles to the gallon than most other boats in its class.
