Hi all - I've just bought a Chrysler 4HP Outboard Motor via eBay UK! Well a box of bits that look like an Engine!

I think the Impellor is knackered hence no water cooling but I can't find a model number on the side of it or anywhere on the casing in order to track down a replacement. Any other maintenance tips welcome for getting this back together again!

My questions:
What is the Model/Year of this Engine
How do I get a new Impellor for it in the UK?
How do I get it ID'd?

The only numbers I can find on the Engine are:

521010 and L2755357 - do they mean anything to anybody?
I've also uploaded photos to see if anyone can help me recognise this motor. Thanks in advance...

Re: Chrysler 4hp - how do I find out the Model number

Hello bluebossa and welcome to Iboats. Looks like some assembly required :D

If you find the powerhead go to where the carburator is and then below the carburator there should be a metal plate with the model and serial number. The number will be something like 42HA or 43HC or similar.

Parts are hard to find for that motor even here in the US. Mercury stocks some of the parts needed for the larger motors however it is tough to find anything for a motor less then 35 HP. I would try and find a model number then go to www.chryslercrew.com and buy a parts manual and a service manual. Between the two you should be able to figure out how to put it back together. Chrysler crew has downloadable manuals so being in England should not be a problem

Re: Chrysler 4hp - how do I find out the Model number

Thanks for that - had a good look under the Carb but no plate or numbers similar to those.

Under the 521010 on the Crankcase their is a 76 then a set of boxes and then an F?
Could then be of any relevance?

Still need help I fear.

I will be travelling in the US in July if anyone can help. Thanks again in advance.

The numbers you posted really have no bearing on the model number. It could be that the smaller chryslers had it somewhere else. Try looking here. LINK and see if anything looks familiar. I am pretty sure if it is from the early 70s that the design did not change much in 10 years and any part availible for a 4 hp chrysler will work on it.

Re: Chrysler 4hp - how do I find out the Model number

Thanks again for that - the website has a great set of drawings and I think the 76 4HP which lists part numbers seems very close so I have sent them a couple of emails.

I will print the lists and check against my Engine but think this is very close to the Answer so I'll let you know - It's listed as a $53 item. Thanks
