Sick of wasting money on overpriced new stuff, so I took a chance and paid $200 at auction, for a rusty, non starting, 1980 Troy-bilt Pony garden tiller with electric start.

The tines look looked great but everything else looked pretty grimy. It belonged to a farmer and appeared to have sat for a long time.

Fresh oil and gas, with a quick jump start (wasted battery as expected) the tiller started and ran perfectly. ;)

"New" Ponies start at about a grand without the electric start.

I'll put a little extra in the church collection plate this Sunday. ;)

Cool. I'm trying to teach my kids this stuff. Needing everything new is a bad habit . . .

He said Pony......... :D :D :D

I have a similar story....no end yet. Have an 8.5hp Troy built wood chipper in the basement. Or should I say parts of one. I have all the parts, I even fabricated stuff to get the thing together. I didnt have a motor, but I found the perfect one last year.......or so I thought. The drive shaft is like an inch too short.

Those Tillers are GREAT.....My grandpa has the Horse version, I borrow it every spring. (the handles completely broke off a really old one that I had while I was tilling  )
