I have a 90hp Johnson that is on a Ranger 372V boat that needs to be wired. Mod. Number J90MLCRD
1) Can a tach be hooked up on this motor?
2) is there an over heating alarm that needs to be connected
3) What about a self test (when you turn the key, after a few seconds you here a beep) is this something that can be connected

I have just bought the motor and not sure how to connect everything.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Firefighter,
Is there a red-plug at the motor? This is the internal wiring harness. There is a mating red plug at the end of the wiring harness for the control box. Plug & go... If you don't have the harness, get one. They're not uncommon and many years of red plug harnesses on either side of 1984 will work...

Thanks for the information. I will have to look at this when I get home. When I bough the boat someone had cut alot of the wiring and I have found wires that go to nothing. So I will have to look to see if I have a plug in the back of the boat. Thanks again.
