I hit a rock and have small gouge which made a pin hole in the lower gear case.
When I limped back to the slip, I noticed a little gear oil coming up from the gouge. I don't have trailer accessible, so I was going to try to fix the hole temporary to salvage the rest of my season. I know the right thing to do is pull it and fix it right. But..... my question is could I use marine tex flex on the hole to patch temporary for now?

until the oil runs out and the drive seizes, Yes

Ayuh,.... I'd give it a minute,.... or two,..... The oil is already low,.....
'n the the upper gears/ bearin's are the 1st to loose oil, as the lower unit fills with water,....

It could well be already toooo late,....
