Hi there,
I have a Johnson seahorse 35hp (approx 1985), it recently over heated, Ive got it home and tried running it, its not seized (phew) and its fireing, but it wont start, does anyone have any ideas that I could try before I have to assume the head gaskets gone. (the chambers look dry and it looks like a weak spark)Failing this does anyone know if there are any manuals online for engines of this age?
Many thanks in advance :)
email me at itsdibbybaby@yahoo.co.uk

If it overheated, try to get a meter and mesure compression. It should be beyond 100 and within 15 psi on both cyls. Normally this motor has around 125-135 Psi. Spark should be able to jump a 3/8" gap, strong blue spark.

Try this and repot back.
