I recently noticed that when i go to tilt my stern drive it goes back down immediately( drive does not lock in position). When i pulled off the cover for the gear box section i saw a set of friction plates and nothing obviously wrong; so i removed the tilt motor and realise i was able to spin...

I transferred all my internals on a Omc 140hp sterndrive to a different uppercase but after remounting on the boat I realise the steering is harder to turn.....Is it a case where the retainer for the worm gear was over torqued, because I did not add or remove any of the bearings...

I Reinstalled my gearcase after transferring parts from a previous upper gear case ( that one got damaged). However when remounted, I realised that the Boat is steering opposite to the direction of the steering wheel. Any Ideas where I could have gone wrong when installing gearcase?
Hey, I got an upper case housing for my OMC 140hp as my previous one got damaged. Does anybody have any diagrams and or literature that could assist me in transferring internal parts correctly? I saw a couple of videos on youtube of different sections but not as detailed as i would have liked..

I have a damaged gearbox case (upper section) from a OMC 140hp...I did some research and the part no. seems to be 980805 (but coming up as obselete :( ))...does anyone know if it can be repaired, or if i can get one Used; or even some ideas what could be used as substitute?
