    I have used Smart Chargers the past 10 yrs, as they will recognize/charge an AGM. They are usually 2/8/20 Amp models. I prefer not to use the Battery Boil setting

    If you are referring to a Pin, who cares, I doubt there was much Precision in drilling a pin to keep the Shaft from sliding out. What would matter is that both Carbs are Closed.

    Most Gaskets for the Vortec are quite good, and do not use glue or sealant Just wondering, the Title was "Water in the Intake" If water is in the oil, there are several ways it got there, usually Cracked Heads/Block

    The Price of a 3rd Tire, isn't all that high, for the Piece of Mind it will provide, besides the tires can be swapped every spring or fall, so you don't end up with an old unused spare that has to be tossed cause of a Date Code

    Throttle Position Amplifier? Just loosen the god damn Linkage between the Carbs, insure they are both fully closed, then tighten the Linkage

    In 64, OMC added a Tin Plating to the Pistons, supposedly to aid in the Engine Break In. Otherwise there is no differences in Bearings or Clearances, so 50:1 can be used. OMC actually issued a Bulletin back in 64 that their older engines could run 50:1 if Evinrude/Johnson/OMC Oil(TCW) was used.

    Have you tired spraying a bit of Fuel into the Carb Throat? Can a Spark jump a 3/8" gap on all Cylinders? What condition are the Plugs in? And Everyone's Favorite, What are the Compression Numbers?

    On the 3 Cylinder that would happen as it used a standard type 2 Tooth Clutch Dog, but on the V4 Cases I doubt it would have, as they use Ramp Type Clutch Dogs, and would likely make a bunch of Clacking Sounds

    1973 was the first year that OMC offered Power Trim as a Dealer installed Option. Being that the Design was discontinued in the late 70s, means you are likely going to have to find a Donor Motor, that has a functioning Unit.
