Also, A and W root beer is great but something with 6 percent alcohol is better when working on old motors. Fuel tank is not in a "run" position. Water heater is missing expansion tank....house may flood soon. All free advice, no Venmo needed!

Looks like it was overheated once or twice. Pull rope out of recoil, inject wd 40 in recoil and work it free. Large gear on recoil is an old man arm breaker. Poor design in my opinion.

Purchase or borrow a compression tester. Do test. Go from there. Even old, used, abused motors can run but be careful with this old girl. She might lift your wallet. Good luck.

1996 Evinrude Vindicator 200hp--engine keeps quitting on start-up

Electrical parts cleaner in the key slot opening? NO. test primer solenoid. Turn key with cowling off and push it in. Should here click, otherwise jump it at the motor with 12 volts. If it doesn't click keep testing or take it to a shop. Fuel should be in the carbs. Fill with fuel again, try to...

1996 Evinrude Vindicator 200hp--engine keeps quitting on start-up

Another puzzling statement, "Then, suddenly, I could hear gas making it to the carburetors, and the bulb got really tight and stiff. I'm told that is a known bulb defect of some sort."

    1986 Evinrude outboard

Yes, your motor didn't come with oil injection or it was converted. 50 to 1 and I'm not sure I'd use that yellow bottle stuff. Brp, Merc, Yamaha....2 stroke oil. Sure to get a reaction here...oh well. I would stop and do a compression test. Make sure your all good there and then move on to...

Yikes....2 stroke, mixed gas or it's oil injected. Need pictures to verify oil injection.

johnson twist throttle removal 1990 20 hp tiller

Yeah, tough one to walk you through....I'll look for a diagram if I get a chance. The "puck" should just go in a little round hole in the plastic handle (one on each side) and they slide in a channel when you twist the grip.

Well you also left out dynamic braking. The electric motors help to stop the damn thing as well.
