1967 evinrude 80 hp need help.

I hope neither of you were 'easing it into gear'. I would suspect worn Clutch Dog, and Gears. I noticed that you have a 10 X 9 1/4" Prop on it.

First make sure the Engine is in good shape and is able to make its power, especially since that engine appears to be severely Overpropped. Oh, Great, Tachometer Ears

Re power - 2 cylinder vs 3 cylinder Johnson 50hp

The 3 will have slightly more Torque over a wider Rpm Range, because it is easier to Tune the Exhaust on a 3 cylinder than on a 2. It will likely have slightly better Fuel Economy as well, also due to the Exhaust Tuning. Racer points out an Important difference regarding Longevity Having the...

    Rebuilt Carburetor… Still No Idle!

That brass tube, may have been a part of the Carb Body, that wasn't supposed to be removed. Maybe the previous "rebuilder" somehow pulled it out and didn't get it back in properly Most OMC Carbs, set the float by

    Russian spacecraft crashes into moon

That one was 1992. I have a lot of pics(6 or 7 rolls of 36, though nothing compared to what are taken with todays ML) from that airshow, and quite a few of various Russian Fighters. There was one Mig(I think) there that did some Incredible Maneuvers, quite close to the ground too. For Decades...

    Russian spacecraft crashes into moon

I was in High School when Canada did its Conversion to Metric, and I am quite good at functioning in Both Systems. I know there are 1.6kms in a Mile, 2.2 lbs in a Kilogram. that 0C is 32F, 10C is 50F, 20C is 68, and 30C is just too damn hot Every 10C change is 18F chance 4.54 Liters make a...

    Piranha prop selection help

I would say the 15" was too small for the Boat, but an 800+ rpm drop is about double the change expected. So something else is involved. Perhaps the 15 was also slipping from air injection. I can't see how high the engine is mounted on the Transom... This what a Cleaver Blade Looks like I never...

    Time for New Prop

A Canoe is a Displacement Hull, and I suspect that 15 hp is far more than it actually needs. A six hp would likely push it just very slightly slower than the 15. Displacement Hulls take very little power to push, up to a point, at that point quadrupling the hp, will only increase the speed...

    Need propeller suggestions

If you gained 1000 by dropping 2" in Pitch, your 17" is slipping badly. A 2" change in Pitch is, almost universally, a 400 Rpm change. Perhaps the engine was rigged with a SS in mind, but is mounted too high for an AL. I call BS on the Flexing Nonsense. That bit of Misinformation has sold...

    Need propeller suggestions

What is the WOT range for that Engine? If it is something like 5500-6000, and you are only getting 4200, you are going to need to drop far more than 2" in Pitch to get even close to that Rpm Range, somewhere along the lines of 6 or 7 inches. Was the Motor and Boat a Package Deal from a Dealer...

    Looking at a boat with a 1995 Evinrude 120 V4, anything I should know?

The first couple of yrs for the V4 Loopers were riddled with Issues, but by 95 the bugs had been ironed out. As mentioned a Compression Check, and Gear Oil, but that could have been changed when the Boat was being prepped for sale. Check the Integrity of the Transom by locking the Engine at full...

    A cc(1cm x 1cm x 1cm) of Water weighs a Gram A Liter(10cm x 10cm x 10cm) of Water weighs a Kilogram A Cubic Meter of Water is 1 1000 Kilograms(Metric Ton) Zero as a Freezing Point of Water makes sense, as does 100 for Boiling Point. Long or short shaft. ( opinion )

Photographs, without Context, are not good for estimating Sizes. As mentioned before, get a tape measure, and measure from the top of the Transom to the AV Plate. It will probably be in between a Long and a Short Shaft.

    Russian spacecraft crashes into moon

Most Counties have advanced enough to switched to the Metric System... It does make a lot more sense, as Volumes and Weights are tied together in much more Logical Patterns The Russians/Soviets have no reason to be ashamed, or ridiculed, as they did First Satellite First Living Creature in...
