What's wrong with my new 6hp Tohatsu?

Not familiar with that model. if air from intake, there is some valve leak... if crankcase, likely rings. Re seafoam; it's just mineral spirits, so your mileage may vary. I prefer real carb dip in gallon cans from the auto parts house.

    NSF18b2 oil light issues

Maybe due to an overheat. In that case, maybe new is a good idea. BUT still check to see if the plunger is stuck.

Pee hole only dripping water --- 15hp Tohatsu

Rule out (or in) overheating. Use a gun type IR thermometer. Cheap at HF and other places. Engine should not be going over about 150F. Stat has NO effect on the pee tube. I trust you did an OEM WP kit, not some cheapie impeller that may fit incorrectly. What is your actual model (not year?)

What's wrong with my new 6hp Tohatsu?

If compression comes up a lot with some oil, yes, rings are leaky. Compression testers are notoriously way off, so don't trust that number. Tohatsu America denied the warranty in under 5 years? That sounds wrong. I've seen them be very generous with warranty. The seriaql number will allow them...

    NSF18b2 oil light issues

The "plunger" is the pressure relief. Should hold about 40 or so PSI. It could be stuck partially open. I have seen that. 3V2076200M PLUNGER $26.35

What's wrong with my new 6hp Tohatsu?

Roughly 50 psi with decompression; about 140 without. Cold valve lash should be 0024 to 0055 intake, 0043 to 0075 exhaust. There is no way that you have too much compression. The piston does not create a vacuum, aside from pulling the air/fuel mix in. Your starting issue is likely a carburetor...

    Tohatsu Repair Products?

The Tohatsu 40, 50, and 60 are all in the same family. Kits are available for many years after the motors go obsolete. In fact, I am repairing a 1986 90 hp unit right now. Evinrude never made oil.

There isn't5 a stator on that model. If truly no spark, review your Factory service manual on this 40 year old motor.

    NSF18b2 oil light issues

If your bearings are that loose and the oil strainer/pump/sender are good, it's time for new main bearings... Since the conn rods don't use bearing inserts, check those clearances. Might be time for new rods as well.

    2006 Nissan 9.8 NFS9.8A3 Revival

Please remove the link to the illegal FSM. They are copyrighted, and Tohatsu may sick their attornies on them. Forget seafoam. It's just mineral spirits. You can soak all non rubber bits in real carb dip overnight. You can get that in 1-gallon cans at the auto parts house. Occasionally a kit...

    Need info on Tohatsu M9.8A

The B came out around 1998. In North America, that was followed by the 4-stroke motors. Yes, the A is quite obsolete. No water pump kits, and no carb kits, etc. Probably uses the Tohatsu 2-stroke fuel connector.

Just reverse how you dropped it. The water tube and shifter linkage must align as the driveshaft goes into the crank.
