If you changed the gimbal bearing you did not center it in the coupler with the alignment bar. So the way you installed the drive MIGHT WORK.
If the alignment is actually off you will be removing the motor to replace the coupler in under 50 hours
unless you have the cable in a fairly straight line you wont turn it .BUT BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE CASING obtain a SS solid core from a control cable and use it as a guide
A1, GEN II, Bravo there all the same . There should not be a plate where the fitting gets drilled Have you removed the drive? rusted U joints will make turning very difficult
nothing to worry about for testing, if the alt now responds correctly then your 90a fuse link is bad. If it was good you would see 12v at the output post with the engine off
An alt puts out 14.6 PERIOD, not 24 unless your alt was made for a diesel application. Seeing anything over 14 v means the alt is not connected to the battery. With the motor off, do you see 12v at the alt output terminal?
Once your under the rear mount lay the cable inside the boat as straight as possible or have someone turn it with you while you tighten it Your clockwise, there counterclockwise
