Most likely the Red/purple stripe wire and shorted out the 90A link at the starter. Considering how tight that area can get I install a Maxi-Fuse in the Red wire and the Orange wire. This way should the fuse blow protecting the Alt you still retain system power
500 gph, that barely enough for a shower sump. The pump is designed to keep you afloat in case of an emergency. Usually wired directly to the battery and should have an audible alarm wire to it.(motorcycle horn, etc)
Go small and go down.
What you do is locate a 5K pot put it in series with the wire to the gauge wire the other end to the sender. Get to operating temp ,Adjust pot until both reading match . Carefully remove pot and measure the ohms. insert this resistor in series with the gauge wire...
all you need to do is change to a "square-square" pin and steering arm
I have one if interested, measure your OD in the seal area to confirm and post it
/connect a razor knife to something to get in there and slit the hose on the transom side. Be very careful not to break the plastic fitting and make the new hose 2 inches longer
It looks like ti goes into the water jacket on the intake so if your raw water cooled it circs raw water to cool the pumps or A/F thru the hoses to the pumps
The Red wire and the one with the plastic block get connected to the main battery post on the starter. The block is a fuse link protecting the wiring, Red is main system power, yellow/ W red stripe is for the solenoid
