1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Okay, thanks for that info... Kind of like "White Lightening" caulking then it seems. About the same issue with that product as well...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Ha, thanks for the replies. I actually went onto the 3M website and found info about shelf life. They stated 24 mouths if unopened. But who knows how long such products sit on store shelves. Anyway, if I try to use it and it is hardened in the tube, I'll buy another tube of it. I was just...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

Yeah, I had clamps in mind...lots of them. Now for the next question. How long does a tube of 3M 5200 last sealed in it's tube? The tube I presently have is easily years old but still sealed sitting in my chemical cabinet in my shop. Is it still okay to use, or should I throw it out and buy new...

Maybe we all just need to suit up in outer-space suits and this will all be over... Sure would stop people from spitting their gum on the side walks and their Cigarette butts too... lol

    Hull support trestle

Think abut this. Since the boat sits on the trailer and is supported via the bunks and such, mimic that same design off the trailer and it has to work. Not an Earth Shattering idea, mimic what you already have with the trailer supports and remove it to those supports. JMHO

    Need parts

Heck if there is only one break in the winding, as you remove the winding, repair that break when you get to it, and rewind the wire back on and WALA, new exciter coil ready to go... That is a different story if the windings are burnt or toast. But worth a try anyways. That is exactly what I...

Looking to find a welch plug for 2015 6hp Yamaha

I am assuming that welch plugs are not unique to each carb manufacturer, so if you can't find one that fits, look for other carbs in that size range and see what is offered. Most of the time a welch plug comes with a carb rebuild kit and therefore not listed as a separate part. So maybe you can...

Did you all see the new latest Olympic sport the Olympic Committee just allowed adding for future Olympics. They decided to allow "Break Dancing"! Yes, seems I have that ability and could compete... Oh...wait...break dancing, not broken bones.... Okay nothing to see here, move along...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

If anyone has a reliable source closer to where they live and it cost less, of course I would go that route. I was only offering an extremely great place to buy supplies that so many others use as well. Just make sure you only buy what you can use in a six month period. Polyester doesn't last...

    Thank you General Yeager

Can you just imagine how he felt the day he broke the sound barrier for the first time. No one knew what would happen and that takes a very brave totally gutsy man to do it first not know what could happen. He was a hero in my eyes...

Looking to find a welch plug for 2015 6hp Yamaha

You can always "make" one. I had a carb that needed one and since I couldn't find one, I made one. Not as hard as you may think. I used some thin aluminum sheet and punched out the size I needed and installed it. Still working perfect to this day. Just an idea if you can't find one...

    Bogging issue

You probably already have done this too, but have you changed the fuel lines from the fuel pump to the carb(s)? And have you verified the fuel flow out of the pump lately? Just more ideas...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

Sounds like a plan. Just remember, depending on how much polyester resin you buy, the Hazmat fees are added. I was ordering the resin in 5 gallon buckets for my project and I still came out better buying from US Composites with shipping and hazmat fees added in then anything locally, and their...

1969 Mako cut and gut project by Lectro88

You sound like so many others contemplating a rebuild of their rotted hull, self included. But try not to over think it because it really isn't rocket science that you will only see after it is all finished. There are things to be said for a wider footprint, but there are negative things as...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

Not sure where you are, but lots of iboaters use US Composite out of Florida for their polyester resins and fiberglass materials. A very good company that sells FRESH resins that haven't been sitting on a shelf somewhere. And that is a very important issue as well.

    Bogging issue

Interesting... Are you absolutely sure your gas tank is venting properly? Sounds like it could be starving for fuel during those bog times. And if the vent is not perfectly clear, air can't get in the tank as the gas comes out. Also, how many times have you filled up that tank? If you are...

Source for Factory Gray paint...not blue gray

I agree, if you honestly want a "perfect match", take an engine part with the color you like to an auto-paint store and have them computer match you some paint. Otherwise, different batches of paint can easily vary from one batch to another. Not a perfect world... But you also need to understand...

Heavy weight seat mounts & swivels

If you want to see my box seat ideas, click on my boat thread listed below and have a look. I did make the box type seat arrangement with the storage. The front seat holds the trolling motor battery box setup and some additional storage. And the rear seat storage is basically dry storage. I...
