    Square grouper and stuff

I haven't heard of any other places with such issues. I guess if you are smuggling drugs, you go to the closest place and off load and get out of there... Sad, isn't it...

    Home Renovations - Weather Permitting

Seems other iboaters have house project on their lists of to-do's as well. We've been doing the inside of our home. And that includes scrapping the ceilings to remove that pop-corn stuff and painting the ceiling, walls and all window casings and doors as we do each room. And out came the carpet...

    Tips, Hints and Other Ideas

Here is another useless...I mean useful tip... lol Ever need a small pop rivet and all you have around the shop are long ones. Here is an idea that I've used way more then once and it works great. Take a long reach pop rivet and figure out what actual length you need. Then take that rivet and...

So, what did you do today?

Thought I would show how I made a clamp bracket to install the in-tank fluid pump. Not actually a new Ideas, but wasn't hard to fashion either. First I took a 1/2" aluminum plate material I have laying around. I bought a huge sheet of this decades ago for a song from a scrap yard. I think it was...

1976 Tom Boy Boat, 1976 40 HP Johnson Outboard and who knows what Trailer

I have a question for the people that actually know. I already installed both stainless steel seat swivels for the seats on my boat. However, they are not the lockable types. And I am contemplating removing them and installing lockable types for the AD types that are required...I think. I am...

    Aluminum small hull design

Usually the creases in the length of the aluminum hull to form the "V's" and steps accounts for the "stiffeners" and offer that longitudinal strength. If the hull were built flat with out any creases, I think the hull would be very flimsy in that direction. Since there are no creases...

So, what did you do today?

I am presently using the initial metal box setup that the parts washer came with and therefore the filter capability is merely how it came from the factory. That should be enough to filter out the pieces of gasket material and wads of greasy clumps. I am installing everything inside the top of...

So, what did you do today?

A little update to this after more building today. Seems the pump only pulls about 2.3 amps without a load. That jumps to 4.5 amps under load. So I aborted the initial transformer and picked a much larger version. It is capable of 9 amps out. So I am setting up to use that transformer now...

So, what did you do today?

Actually I haven't even looked for one. However, a typical in-tank fuel pump will work all day long. The only issue is they all use 12 volts or 24 volts for special vehicles, and therefore you have to build a power supply that can supply the current to run them. But once you build the power...

So, what did you do today?

Actually that is how I got thousands (actually tens of thousands of part) of electronic parts...buying NEW parts with extras so many times when building projects...

    Old Coast Guard Horn

Okay, seems I already went through this once. I initially stated it was a cap and was correctly corrected. However, I thought I was calling it a resistor and corrected that it was a cap. So it isn't the eyes that are going, but more like the mind. Sorry for this stupid mistake the second time...

So, what did you do today?

Well first I measured the resistance of the pump. It reads 5.1 ohms. So using that as a guide, I took an older 24 volt transformer at 2 amps with a center tap and coupled the two outer leads with that center tap winding to give me 12 volts. But that also doubles the current. So instead of 2 amps...

So, what did you do today?

Since my parts washer pump gave it up (yes a Harbor Freight), I am fashioning a REAL pump from an in tank fuel pump. I had one sitting on the shelf from some other fuel tank work back a couple years ago and it runs like a top. But since it is 12 volts +/-, I had to rig up a transformer and diode...

    Mounting battery selector switch ideas

My two batteries are separated from the front to the back. But I ran heavy gauge wires from the front trolling motor battery box to the rear battery box at the transom. And the battery switch mounted in the starter battery box works out perfect. It allows me to switch from front, rear or both...

    Old Coast Guard Horn

The "resistor" is not a resistor like I initially stated. It is a capacitor. And if you read 50 ohms across it, then you must have it paralleled with the coil. Otherwise, it isn't good. If I could be there and look at it for a minute I could easily tell you if it was an AC horn or DC. And that...

How to Clean up 1976 Ozark Bass Boat

Hate to break the news to you, but fiberglass hulls are notorious for their finish fading over the years. And most of the time, it is near impossible to make it shine again. Boaters that tried used polishing compounds and buffers and some made their look better, but never back to new shine. As...

    Mounting battery selector switch ideas

Well I actually mounted my battery selector switch in the cranking battery box itself. There is a lot of head room in the typical battery box and since the switch is for the battery selection, seems like a good idea. that's what I did...
