    Outboard in the Lake

Pull the flywheel spray everything down with Wd40 and blow it dry with air or even a hair dryer if that’s all you have and try again. Get it running asap and let it run for as long as you can to dry out the internal surfaces. Best of luck

    Broken Skeg

Looks good as new. Did you use any resin in glass or just trowel in the job weld?

    Which towing position

I personally would prefer #3 but that would also depend on the terrain I was towing on.

    Broken Skeg

We have a big rock in my local waters that had damaged 100’s of boats. It was finally marked in 2001 after a long battle from a 95 year old man man that hit the rock in 1934. It was on the charts but had no visible marker and it was just under the surface and the size of a car. There are many...

    Need help with identifying motor

Likely normal and just unburnt fuel and oil but check the lower oil anyway and see how it looks. A new to you motor should get a new impeller as well.

Outboard loses prime, unless I stand the tank on end

I have found that sometimes the tank vents don’t always vent. Try loosening the cap or check the pick up tube inside the tank and see what you get.

Well water boils at 212 so that’s not good. I think 130 or so is a happy temp

Swap 1978 9.9 hp piston on 1987 9.9 hp powerhead

Drilling more oil holes is uncharted waters for me but a weight difference would throw everything off balance and would likely cause catastrophic damage. Best

    What type fuel hose?

I hear there Flyingscott. Ever time I read a post that has potentially dangerous info I grit my teeth. Personally I would rather save somewhere else and get a quality fuel line. Both for safety and future problems with internal deterioration of a lot of the stuff that sold these days.

If you have fuel at the carb but not through it it’s time to revisit the carb. IMO Still doesn’t explain why you’re not at least getting some life when squirting a bit of fuel in the carb. Did you torque the flywheel when you put it back on? Could have sheared the key if not.

Help Me Identify Old Super Sea Horse

Your are in for a project if you want a safe boat. I have done several transom repairs and the only way to do it right is to do it all. Spot repairing is not really an option. The transom needs to be all one pice and joined with the hull as well. You will likely fine damage to the stringers in...

Come on Racer help this guy out he wants to go fishing. You often remind me of my automotive tec instructor. 1989 Evinrude 88SPL (E88MSLCER) Cooling

I’m just as curious Racer. Should there not be a cutout in the top and bottom of that gasket? I see the ports in the head but no way for water to pass.
