    yes sir. Pull the side cover off and look at the pistons. See if they are scored or if rings are broke. Very easy to replace pistons and rings without removing flywheel or crank. The gasket kit for the whole motor isnt expensive either.

    Thats what a solid state motor looks like when you pull the flywheel. If thats the case then either the SSI is weak or you have a bad wire or something going on

    If you dont see drain plugs it takes grease. Lubiplate. Yours should use oil. The 2.5hp had a drain plug behind the prop.
