Help with vibration from 1400-3500 RPM

Shouldn't OP have a balance shaft engine (didn't see a serial #)? Either way, mounts (and brackets, also a different p/n) are the same height.

1974 seawirl ranger merc Cruze 4cyl

Yup, forgot about the resistance wire. 12v cranking, 9ish with ignition on. Which part?

Did you set the dwell and timing after you replaced everything? First thing to check is to see if you're getting 12 volts at the coil positive terminal.

    92 Wellcraft Excel 18sx

Ooh, I get to be the first one to make the obligatory reply: Boat manufacturers don't usually have owner's manuals, the service manual that you want is for the engine. Which of course could be pretty much anything. So we'll need to know what engine and drivetrain you have, and for bonus points...

What tools needed to check over an old project bass boat before buying?

That makes more sense why it wouldn't start then any of the stator wiring. All you need is power to the yellow wire to get it to crank. The ignition circuit is separate on the white wire. The key switch should connect the white and red wires for the ignition circuit. So it sounds like you need...

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Agree on both points... The high test would be for diagnostic purposes to see if the pinging goes away.

    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

You need an adjustable timing light. Might try some straight 93 after you burn through that 87. Also, did you check your fuel for water/crud?

    Engine swap, OMC to mercruiser

Not to belabor this, but wtf is a stringer coupler button?

Boat won't go over 3000 RPM no mater what prop I use

I'll raise you one and say I've never had an injector issue. I'm not the sharpest tool in the drawer with marine systems, but have dealt with extensive auto systems since the '80's ...

Boat won't go over 3000 RPM no mater what prop I use

You should be checking everything mechanically with the engine (actually, should have done this prior to purchase). Yeah, also verify tach function. First thing I'd do is compression check (for sure), followed by checking/changing fuel filters/fuel, plugs, cap. Assuming the engine is running...

    Engine swap, OMC to mercruiser

(unless you want vortec heads and more power). What keeps the 2 piece RMS from swapping over? Different crank bolt/flywheel pattern? At least some newer engines already have brass, my 2000 4.3 already did and others have reported the same. Agreed. Also, only success stories I've seen have...

    Starter Wiring, 4.3L Mercruiser

I thought that was the case, but manual #7 has a section on a prestolite points system? Edit: NVM, that's for the 3.8l v6, which I've never seen in the wild

    Engine swap, OMC to mercruiser

I got one on my boat. Same engine basically as what you have now. My feeling is a truck engine will be better than a used marine block.

    Engine swap, OMC to mercruiser

Whole engine, all accessories, wiring, controls, outdrive, transom bits, everything. You'll need a donor boat with a rotten hull.

Engine stalls when put in gearMy boat is a 1979 27 ft Carver Monterey Mercruiser 228 305 4barrel - Alpha Drive The engine stalls when shifting gear

Unless you upgraded your running gear, you don't have an alpha--likely an MC-1 The SIS should only activate coming out of gear when on the water running. "A little stiff" is a bad cable. There should be practically no resistance

Miss firing Merc 7.4 mpi L29 2000 2855 Ciera SB

I'd probably call the merc an open loop system, since the pcm is operating on a fixed maps based on some sensor input. It just doesn't ever go into closed loop. But yeah, he isn't ever switching into closed loop

Miss firing Merc 7.4 mpi L29 2000 2855 Ciera SB

Admittedly ignorant about the merc systems, so just throwing out my ill informed thoughts... IAC shouldn't have huge effect once your rpms are up. You can check the operation with a scan tool, number of counts. An open loop system kind of limits your ability to tell whether you're running...

Miss firing Merc 7.4 mpi L29 2000 2855 Ciera SB

You've mentioned closed/open loop a few times...afaik your engine doesn't use a closed loop system... But are you no longer getting a code 14?
