    5.7LX rebuild question

I'd call Edelbrock and see what they recommend for a tuning kit (or look at the tubing Bible to get in range). Michigan motorz is another good source; I'm too lazy to Google, but if they offer the Edelbrock on their crate engines, ask what they use for jetting.

Stalls out on idle after 30 to 45 minutes. Mercruiser 4.3 TKS Thunderbolt V Alpha II

No, as Scott said, he's flooding at idle. There shouldn't be a drip. Problem is in the carb.

    5.7LX rebuild question

That's the right ratio unless you're at WOT. that being said, there aren't any easy options for installing an Afr gauge afaik...

    Snapped screws in carb...

Had to take it to 2 machine shops (first was worried about the small screws and didn't have the right tool) but they're going to drill it and put in inserts for $130. A bit spendy, but cheaper than a new carb, and I really didn't relish this job.

FUTURE of TWIN Gas / diesel engines in boat , who can afford fill ups

Lol. The same people that could afford twin engine 35' cruisers 6 months ago will be able to afford gas today. The gas is a small fraction of boat ownership for most.

Purchasing a 1971 23' Winner, no engine, great shape...

Either the boat isn't a 71 or that engine isn't original. Looks like a narrow bilge, so not sure that a vee would even fit. I think the estimates given her are likely pretty high, depending on how much work you do yourself and what kind of deals on parts you can score. Agree with needing to...

Bad 1970 Mercruiser Engine, Please tell me there is still hope.

At best it sounds like your mounting pad is bad. You really need to check the transom and stringers before proceeding. The boat really won't be safe or useable if there's rot. And based on the engine and your situation wouldn't be salvageable (yes, everything's salvageable with enough time and...

    Snapped screws in carb...

There were no issues before the boat swamped. There's grit in there now but looks in good shape overall. One of the venturi screws was already snapped off. I think someone was in there before and gorilla tightened the screws.

    Snapped screws in carb...

Finally got around to rebuilding my Edelbrock 1409 after my boat got swamped. A good bit of junk in there, although the carb looks really easy to rebuild in general. Ran into problems with multiple screws snapping off, despite my being *super* careful, heating/pb blaster, to no avail. Anyway, I...

Do I need to worry about gear pieces in my Mc-1 lower ??? - I'm mating it to an alpha 1 upper

No first hand knowledge, but most here will tell you that short of disassembling the lower and cleaning, you'll end up trashing your new upper from the debris.

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

Isn't your engine out? If so, knock it out from the inside.

New gimbal bearing, can’t get alignment tool in coupler

No, that isn't it. The orientation doesn't affect function.

    3.0 mercruiser valve adjustment

I was being a bit tongue in cheek there (since no real factory manual covers everything ever built), but I'll be damned if the real thing doesn't spec 100 psi. I can blow through a straw harder than that.
