    Canister filter is still a very good idea. Pump filter won't stop water, and isn't nearly as good as the canisters otherwise either.

    Being able to turn it, and having your pitted bearing surfaces hold up at 4k rpms while under load are 2 different things. I've had good luck with used units aside from having to replace seals, and I really like having a spare on hand so that I can repair a leak or u joints on my own time.

    This is a tks? If you found crap at the pump filter, then you need to see if there's crap elsewhere. Canister filter? Is there a filter at the carb?

    The flywheel housing is different as well iirc, as is the flywheel and coupler from newer models (though not sure if that would have an impact)

    Never really understood the hour meter. 100 hours at idle isn't the same as 100 hours of watersports. Same thing with mileage in cars... I'll take 100k highway over 20k city (or my wife driving) any day.

    So if I'm understanding correctly, unplugging a wire from either cylinder 1 or 4, the engine ran the same? That's essentially a cylinder drop test, and would point to either 2 dead cylinders or a timing issue (if the engine is actually running; if it just sputters for a few seconds that's tough...

    It ran with 2 plugs but not 4? Recheck your wire order on your distributor cap and your timing

    Check spark first, it's easy and usually either there or not.

    Iirc I filled the hole with 4200 before installing that bolt.
