    Deck gas filler cap

How about a pic of the cap? Most take a 1-1/2" hose from the filler to the tank. Any replacement of the whole unit is probably the way to go.

replacing water intake hose and found this:

You can get at that without removing the gimble most times. You may have to remove the steering ram and such to get at it. Unless the motor is stuffed in a really tight spot.

    Broken Rod End

Yes, there should be a bonding wire to the rudders/steering rods. Green number 8 wire. If it's not there, it will corrode.

    Gimbal Bearing Noise?

Well yes, ignition related parts have to be approved. The only other thing I can think of right now is the circulating pump should be marine, it has the stainless impeller. I've seen the automotive ones that fail from rusty impeller.

    Gas in 2003 18’CC bilge

Glad you got it going,... BUT even if overfilled it should NOT have gotten into the boat, it should have vented outside to the vent. You have a leak either at the fill pipe, vent, fuel sender, or pickup lines. Further investigation is needed.

    Gas in 2003 18’CC bilge

This is whats left of a 20' boat when they explode. The family was thankfully on the dock, the owner hit the key and it blew. He scrambled through the now missing windshield and jumped to the dock. The hatches blew 40'. Cap separated from the hull. Dang lucky no one got hurt this time.
