    Steering

Generally, turn wheel right -->boat goes right Turn wheel left -->boat goes left. Anything past that we'd need to know a bit more about what's on there now ...

1988 GM 5.7 stalling when slowing down

Neutral safety affects the starting circuit only Yes, clearly electrical problem Yes/no/yes, but you won't be able to shut the engine with the key. All the wiring between the battery, through the engine harness cannon connector, up to the ignition switch (red/purple wire), through the...

Advice: Rock Shore Line - Mooring, Docking, Anchoring

Not in my river. You'd have to check in yours.

Looks like LI and Cape Cod are connected by some sort of water passageway.

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

I know... My post was trying to show why changing props to change direction in an O/B gear case might do damage if the o/b case had a similar design to the stern drive (less robust thrust bearing in reverse)

If you're going to be using it often, put in a mooring

4.3 mercruiser how to winterize with outdrive on

Interesting. I wonder if just blowing that hose out with a shop vac would work. I might try it and then pull to see what's left. There's a lot of space in the cooler, and it's relatively a low stakes gamble...

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

He clearly stated inboard, and was clearly talking about an I/O. Post #19 clearly has a picture of a merc I/O lower unit, and an explanation of why simply running a counter prop on a standard gear case would not be a good idea.

Boat going in reverse instead of forward

The I/O engines themselves didn't run counter (which would be CCW) but the outdrives did, and were different in twin setups. Are you saying twin OBs had the same gear cases?

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Well then, nothing else to say. My guess is you have bad gas/clogged filter/plugged carb. If you want to chance getting stranded/doing damage to your boat by continuing to run it (btw, it isn't going to start running better...) without diagnosing or fixing it, go for it. Certainly draining the...

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

Prop isn't your problem. Fuel/carb is by far the most likely culprit at this point. I wouldn't think a rejet is the solution by itself, but I don't have any altitude experience. If you only got 2200 rpm with a 19p and it was worse with a 17p, something is wrong

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Yes, but in that case the engine runs normally. Wonky running + wonky tach = missing spark until proven otherwise imo

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Well, that's the tach acting as it should. And obvious. Doesn't sound like what's going on here.

    Wrong New Prop Or What?

2" of prop isn't going That's why I was asking time between runs. If it worked fine in FL, then didn't a week later in Co that's a different story than if it sat a season

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Doesn't explain the tach though. I still think you're misfiring. Did you ever do a cylinder drop test? Also, I'd throw a timing light on each plug wire while it's misbehaving and make sure you're getting a consistent spark to each cylinder
