    Inline 6 250, 165hp water in oil

My risers were fine from the engine I got with cracked block/manifolds.

Help with Battery issues after stereo install

Exposed neg wires wouldn't do that, but if you had an exposed pos in proximity to an exposed neg, that certainly would. You'd have a short to voltage on the neg wire, as mentioned in previous posts. Also, with the engine running you'd have some vibration moving the wires around. Glad you got it...

I bet he has the whole manual.

Bt's right, though wondering if we're saying the same thing. By "acc", do you mean switched/ign power? What brand do you have

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

I think @Scott Danforth said something along those lines (don't remember if it was in response to your thread or another)? If it physically fits, and the internal flow is the same, IDK. I don't have a manual for the old 470's to compare the cooling flow to the newer ones.

Help with Battery issues after stereo install

Beats me. None of this makes sense. If you have separate wiring to the HU in the boat, I'm going to double down and say that unless there's a problem within the HU or a short in the negative wiring, this can't happen. A current spike in the boat wiring should blow the inline fuse, or the HU...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

Yeah, tstat isn't anything special. Not sure why you can't use the 4" HX. Do the plumbing fittings look the same/in the same place?

Trick/fitting for cooling through bellhousing port?

Anybody have a good fitting/solution for cooling the engine with an alpha outdrive removed? Trying to find something that can be wedged or something into the bellhousing port that won't pop out when I'm not paying attention. Currently removed hose from PS cooler, but it's messy. Garden hose is...

Help with Battery issues after stereo install

No, that doesn't mean power isn't getting to the head unit. It means that too much power is getting to/through the head unit. Yes, lawnmower battery should be fine. Wait, so new HU popping fuses on the lawnmower battery but not on the marine battery?

Help with Battery issues after stereo install

If the wiring is as you described, and there are no breaks in the wire that could short it to the main wiring, I can't see how they're related. But like I said before, you can disconnect the negative for the radio, start the boat, measure voltage across your battery to make sure you're not...

MC-1 Back Together, Temp 175 Fahrenheit?

No. You have a 160' stat, if it's running that hot at idle something's wrong. But your gauge for sure might be off. Double check with an IR gun or a thermometer radiator cap or something.

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

You're not looking for a bad coil, you're looking to see if the wiring to the tach/tach itself is intermittently killing the spark. The coil if bad would be worse warm.

All good points. I hereby retract my previous thoughts.

What do you mean "before the power got to the headunit"? The new head unit is doing the same thing?

Disconnect the fuel line at the tank, plop it in a can. I'd swap the water/fuel filter (buy one and bring it with you) and flush the line by disconnecting it at the carb and running the fuel pump for 30 seconds or so

Maybe it runs on an external tank anyway. Maybe it's a 2hp with an integrated tank.

For whatever reason, yellow is usually battery and red acc. That said, clearly something is wired wrong somewhere. I'd try disconnecting everything else and verify that there isn't voltage present in your black wire when the others are connected to pos
