    My boat sank, part II

Will do. I already had written them off. I have a spare harness that I won't be selling No. Wonder what I'd get for a 35 year boat that was probably less than $10k new?

    My boat sank, part II

Well, we're off! The tide actually came in much higher than last night. Apparently the tide predictions are as reliable as the wind. Me and another guy were able to just push it off with little drama (actually, the drama was when the bilge started filling up until I realized it was all the water...

    My boat sank, part II

I have too...but when I'm not there I don't like leaving it on the mooring in unprotected water. And this was purely my own stupidity from my own design.

    My boat sank, part II

Well, that was a giant fail. Tide rolled in, but the boat is higher on the beach than I realized; there's a high spot right at the jetty, and the boat is on that. The water's only getting a couple of inches up the stern. It isn't budging. Also realized I can't start the boat even if I wanted...

    My boat sank, part II

Cleaned up the battery terminals, replaced some wires. Charged the battery, for some reason it seems ok. Actually managed to get power to the helm (full voltage even) and was able to get her to spin using the key. Pretty hesitant at first, but picked up speed. OP gauge reading 50 psi at the end...

Finally ready for a new prop

My boat just sunk (see my thread in the mercruiser section), so the prop's on indefinite hold. But it's an '01 block (vortec, roller lifters, cam) with a 4bbl carb. Michigan motorz lists the same engine as 225 at the crank. Dang, definitely not feeling that.

    My boat sank, part II

Apparently my last post was removed because of profanity, though to be fair if there's ever a time to use profanity it's when your boat gets knocked off a lift, deposited on a jetty, and swamped, and then you get a speeding ticket returning from walmart. But we'll keep it civilized this go...

Finally ready for a new prop

Previously had a 3.7l 170hp, replaced last year with a 4.3l that should be good for 220hp. Was hoping for a big jump in performance, which unfortunately didn't happen. Dry weight listed at 1150# on the sales flyer fwiw. Had run an alu 3 blade 23p on the old motor, transferred it to the new. With...

    Basic Android charting?

Thought that was subscription. Reading the description I can't tell if you can still use the maps after the subscription ends

    Basic Android charting?

Had been using Marine navigator lite for years, perfect for my needs. Doesn't seem compatible with Android 11 though, and hasn't been updated since 2016. I need something very basic: charts (obviously, and i am partial to the NOAA raster charts), gps location, and bearing. A couple of decent...

Charging system on Mercury 25 hp

Not knowing your serial number, I have a similar motor, electric start with a battery. I'd have to look up the parts to see if what if any difference there is, but you should be able to find an oem solution if your motor doesn't have what's necessary

Will Any 4" 470 Heat Exchanger Fit?

They should. Only issue would be physical space in the bilge, but can't imagine that it's that tight in there. There are probably many hx that would work, the plumbing is fairly simple

I think I'm another story of a bad boat purchase

As is sale with a known defect isn't quite that cut and dry. But unless you bought it from the original owner he can deny that he made the repairs. On a positive note, I had a soft spot in my deck a few years ago. Turned out to be localized to the deck and a support brace between the stringers...

    Mercruiser 3.0 oil pan gasket

It's always a risk/reward thing for me. 1) how much would it suck if this part failed 2) could it leave me stranded if it failed/can I fix it on the water? 3) how much of a pita is it to redo the job? 4) how big of a price difference is it? Oil pan gasket for an extra $30 would fail all 4 of...

    120 Mercruiser 2.5L - No spark

Item 8 is the coil that supplies power to the ignition system (the function of the battery on an I/o). There is otherwise a completely separate ignition system for each cylinder. 2 sets of points, that's where you need to start. Op, this couldn't possibly be further off topic. Start a new thread...

We're going to install condensers over here, and we're going to measure our point gaps in inches!

    3.7 Mercruiser, Crank no start

Spark, fuel, compression, only thing left is timing. Double check your timing and plug order, and make sure your #1 is firing on the compression stroke.

    Mercruiser Pre-Alpha (MC1) Broken Beyond Repair... Options/Recommendations?

Why would the coupler need to be changed if the alpha bolts on? I think I remember the spline counts were different on some early drives (don't recall if that's yoke, gear housing drive shaft, both?). Is the later style transom plate/ gimbal housing a different thickness?
