4.3L Merc 2bbl w/ thunderbolt IV ignition. Still wont start.

I can't tell how you actually have things connected. Here's the wiring diagram (maybe. We don't know what you're working on)

20 foot 1997 Maxum 2050 bowrider propeller question

I think you're thinking is in auto applications. You have different gearing to stay in the best rpm range at any given speed, and importantly under different loads. Boat is always under load (no real part throttle or downhill/throttle off conditions). So at a given speed in a boat, a lower rpm...

    Boat lift options?

Alright, so we're live! I discovered that a lot of my parts (specifically that reversing relay) are all over the place for atv winches. The problem with most of the things I looked at was that there wasn't an easy way to reverse the polarity to the motors. It would have required multiple relays...

Draining The Oil On My 470?

Need a better pic. You can put a tube inside of the dipstick as well, but that's slow going

    1968 mercruiser boat

"Spark" doesn't come to the coil, the coil creates the high voltage and sends it on its merry way to the rotor and distributor cap, then to the plugs, where it turns into spark...

    4.3 fuel problem?

What carb do you have? Your ops has 3 terminals. 1 gets 12v when cranking, 2nd is always hot when ignition is on. 3rd has 12v out to fuel pump, which is present when cranking (from 1st terminal) and when op is high enough to close the switch and send the 12v from the ignition. The pump doesn't...

Forgot plug, part of the club now

Pulled the drive, no water in there (until it started to pour . After the other thread about the bell housing nuts, I managed to strip one of the nuts when torquing it. Strange. But ready for more boating!

Forgot plug, part of the club now

Forgot to put in the drain plug for the first time ever the other day. Yay. Realized it after driving the truck about 300ft. Tried to frantically back up before jumping out and running. Boat was beached, shocking how much water was in there (bilge switch was off while out of the water). Ended up...

Mercarb 2 barrel TKS jet sizes?

It's not like a secret handshake that nobody tells you about. If pumping the throttle twice is the hardest part of my day, that's a pretty good day.

    Mercruiser 160/165 cracked block

Yeah, epoxy or 5200 Yes, plus your stringers as well probably. Unless you're a masochist, you dump the boat at that point and pay for one that floats and runs. What was wrong with the boat you pulled the engine from?

    Mercruiser 160/165 cracked block

The issue is that when the transom rots it flexes, allowing water around that seal. You need to drill into your transom to check its condition. Basically take a ¼ drill bit and drill in an inch or so in multiple places, particularly down low and around the transom cut out. See if you get wood...

    470 3.7L Misfire

So originally it was just 1 cylinder, but really you're having limited fuel in 2 cylinders. I'll change my answer and say carb could do that. What did the plugs look like when you pulled them? And my suggestion previously was to put the timing light on the misbehaving cylinder wire and watch for...

Bad coupler, warped splines? Alpha one gen 1

I mean, if it's that hard to get in there, how TF did you get it out? Is there a ton of grease in there? Did you verify nothing else in the coupler cavity? I don't know how the splines would warp--they're aligned with the shaft.
